Paint over Sculptures or not!!

Hi, I love sculptures with sculpty material look (wax, plastic, stone, oil...) without textures, I love just modeling creatures and don't paint over them...

- Is it important to paint over sculptures?! I see CGS.org don't accept
such images as production quality art...even if model is super-advance-professional sculpt...

Note: I don't plan to go for 3D business, I love to do it as a fun, game, favorite or just another tool to express my creative side...
(my real job is computer engineering & web development)

I actually prefer them unpainted unless they're going in the kiln to be highly glazed. It's just being allowed to appreciate the form unadulterated with colour that I like.
