Hey there. This is a painting I just finished for a coffe table type design book themed "DESIGNMUSIC". It's being put together by nervousroom and will be published as soon as they find a publisher. I decided to mix the theme around a portrait of my wife and I. I didn't use refs for this one, I guess for a couple of reasons: I was stupid and would've saved myself some pain, I wanted to give a more rounded impression of the two of us than using a ref would allow me with my style, and again, I was stupid. Because of that some proportions are off (I fixed as many as I could without destroying the painting) and the lighting is completely arbitrary. It's got a dynamic quality that I really like though and it's a far step above my last couple of painting I feel. So, enjoy and feel free to share your wisdom.

Wow this is an awesome piece, I really like this, I agree with Jnorish in saying this is one of the best pieces I've seen on here in a long time. I checked out your site too, very nice, you do good illustrations, and by that I mean that they really tell a story, its not just a picture. Good job, the only comment I would have is to echo ljefe in saying that all the orange at the top might be a little distracting, but its minimal. Good job. On you website I like the pic of the guy hiding up in the tree.

I was silently wondering if your banner was from a big actual peice you had or if it was specificly something to threw together just for the banner.
This is great, I dig the elongated anatomy ALOT.. reminds me a little bit of Justin Bua's stuff. A lot of that has to do with the rusty/earthy pallet you chose too. This is really sexy tho. If you like, added some graphic designy mumbo jumbo or something at the bottom i'd TOTALLY but a print(s).
lovely. keep freakin it playbwa.

Thanks guys. I'm glad it's working for the most part.
Ya, I used photoshop7 for it. I dig that program and my not so fast computer digs it over painter. I'll be selling prints soon. This thing is 25x25cm. Oh ya, Justin's work gets me going for sure.

Very inspirational man. The overall mood is great. The odd angle of the floor looks creepy, but it fits nicely with the theme.
Post more if ya got em!

I love the appearance of a limited pallette even though all the colors in it. Really nicely done, and great mood. Peace

jca: holy cow! I do have boobs! I'll fix that guys ...
ljefe: that's a good idea to bring in some more turquoise to balance the !!POWER ORANGE!! up top.
Everybody, thanks for the kind words. The only other thing, and I'm kind of undecided on this, is my choice to have an abstract background. One one hand it's fun to me for it to just be about the brushstrokes and patterns but on the other hand I want the figures grounded maybe. I guess grounding us in the picture though would alter the pose a lot. I drew it like we're floating. Just something I'll think about next time.

Beautiful!
I love the elongation =D
jca: "Bob had bitch tits." =)
Odd thing is it actually reminds me of a piece I was working on (and never finished). It sorta has the same tones and elongation... although it is definetly not as good =P
