Mascot Concept

There is this site that is looking for a mascot concept from the members. I've never done this before so I'm not sure how or what I should make.

What the site wants is pretty broad. They want a chibi anime girl, who represents them. The site is a Computer hardware, and Gaming info site.

My first idea was a hologram girl.

They liked the idea, but wanted legs and chibified. SO I tried to make it smaller. This is what I came up with.

The side view is horrible, I got something way wrong though im not sure really.

Any help with the idea and concept would be great. :)

I dont know this "chibi" style, but I think the first concept was more nice. The other one is a little too "girlie-cutsie". A middleway between the two could be it?
About the side-view - theres usually a balancepoint in the head, about where the ear is, that needs to go through the waist, about where the navel is, and then go down into the ground about in front of the ankels. To express this ery exaggerated, the general shape would be an "S" - and the spiune is in this case a backward S.
I think face and hair is good. Costume and boots look good to - concentrate on the colors maybe?

my brother is in to all this 'anime' and 'chibi' stuff, so i learn a few things here and there!
i think that if it is chibi they want, then the secong chatcter page is better (for the style they want) but try to make the head a bit bigger and the body a tiny weeny bit shorter.

try out a few thumb sketches before going to side/back etc views.

Thanks guys! Sorry for the late reply, I've been working on what you guys have said. I have done a few bigger heads and smaller bodies Cartoonfox, Thanks that looks much better. ^^

Johannes you really helped my side view. Id love to show ya but my scanners acting up. It knows I need it.

I'm no manga person, but from what can be seen on the web, a chibi has the body height of one or maximum two head heights, and really small hands and feet.
Gere is a really fast sketch of your design in my version of chibi proportions.
