Hello all :)
I posted this on another thread... sort of off subject... decided I'd love to get a little c&c from you all :) Its been years since I've had any sorts of environments where I get any crits on my doodlings... so I've been pretty isolated as far as that goes.... would be nice to get that again :)
She probably wont ever be completely finished, since I am hopeless at coloring (specifically digitally, for lack of a decent wacom).... but... any advice on her as simple pencil art?
On a side note, if anyone would like to have a go at coloring her I think that would be positively wonderful (and might help give me direction if I should ever attempt it myself)
Thanks in advance

I love the detail!!
and the horse head looks fantastic.. only crit you'll get from me is the woman's face.. eyes seem too big and the nose too wide. That's it. :)
Maybe resize the pic so you can get a better overall view

Big props on the Knotwork in the corner. I've been doing a little of that, and man, is it hard.

hmm...I think where the chin meets the neck is a bit off. It sorta seems like the neck is in front of that part of the jaw...looks kinda strange, but overall, I like this pic.

great job on the knotwork in the corner. Aside from the crits everyone else has offered, the only thing that I wanted to point out is that it feels as if the girl is positioned way to close to the horse. If this was drawn out completely she'd be sitting directly above the shoulder of the horse instead of just behind it where it is most comfortable for both horse and rider

id say that the drawing looks very caricature oriented, do you lean more toward "graphic illustration" in your style and if you do the heavy outline thing you should really model the hell outta the space inside said outline so that it stands out by itself go here, www.yojishinkawa.com and look at his character art for zone of the enders 2, he does some outline stuff like that, and you'll see what i mean, also unless you want it to be, the horse looks to human, you should tone those eyes down and put 'em on the side of its head, horses don't have binocular vision. but if you want that horse to, more power to you, although i would de-humanize those eyes in any case. but yeah i agree with everyone else on the knot tracery stuff in the corner, very nice, take a look at alphonse mucha and Gustav klimt for some more inspiration on that type of thing and the figures as well, especially Mucha.

Thanks so much guys for the time :)
Cat Yea... I kinda figured her eyes are on the large size... I'm kinda obsessed with big eyes.... bad habbits are hard to break! But do they look unaturally large? Or are they just large? As for the nose... I wanted her to have a large nose... didnt really want her to look perfect ;)
Shambacca hahah thanks! but if you look closely its really full of mistakes... I can never get that stuff right and I just end up letting the lines run wherever they want, instead of following a pattern that should be there! ;)
Shadowkiller which left? ours or hers? whats wrong? too small/large? angled weird?
infinitipo Ah! you know I hadnt even really noticed that neck thing! I'll try to fix that...
rothgar yea... that is a major mess up thats been bugging me... see I wanted her to fit in this vertical space... so I squished her and the horse for compositions sake... hoping that it wouldnt look terribly wrong... but unfortunately it does.... :( Its good to know this though... youre always your own worst critic... I was wondering if anyone else noticed that..
Maybe I'll redo this one in the future, and fix those things that are wrong.....
Thanks so much guys! :)
