Alright this is the beginings of a basic soldier concept for one of the races in a game I am working on.

The arms are a little out of proprtion, a little longer than a human..but the soldier isn't human. I wanted to make him look a little more agile, I am not sure if I succeeded.

He does have two eyes, just one lense. And his armor is made up a different levels of plate stacked on each other.

My friend thinks the 'fins' are stupid, but for me they are quite the defining feature of the armor for the race. The number of 'fins' represents ranks, with 3 fins being highest ranking units. Any feedback on what you guys think of the 'fins' would be cool. i dont really like the word fins to describe them, but I cant really think of a better one.

Any c&c would be appreciated.

its all nice and nice, but ill the only advice i can really give you is before you try and go all out why not start with the basic human form. Learn anatomy, motion, shading and other such helpfull details, than go on draw what ever your imagination tells you. There is no real way to shortcut this process. Turst me i've learned the hard way. At any rate, keep drawing and dont get dicouraged.

Oh I am studying anatomy alright. Don't worry, I am taking it slow, but I do sketch stuff like this for fun every once in awhile. Right now I am studying skull structure and faces. For example:

I am trying to get into a life drawing class at a local school here, but it doesnt start for a bit yet. For now I am studying books and the great work on this forum.

But there is so much to work on, and I want to keep this project of ours moving. so I get a few sketches like the soldier off when I can.
