I procrastinate way too much, so it never got done in time. The mood also doesn't fit, it's not dark enough.

the image looks too flat. theres a lot of space here, so you need to show that. perhaps bumping up the contrast of the figure and foreground and bluring out the background to work with some atmosphereic perspective would help. also try to vary the brush you use, that will help to add interest. and as for the mood, you're right, its too bright. work with more dark blues and reds to see what happens. experiment a little.
