View Full Version : No one can possibly care about Beach Volleyball

as an Olympic sport.
it's just not possible anyone could find it THAT entertaining that it should be garnering as much airplay as it does during prime-time Olympic showcases.
god it's so boring. Indoor Volleyball is 10x more interesting to watch.
plus there are about 20 other Olympic events that are more riveting than Beach Volleyball.

i actually find it better then the indoor with like 6 people on each team. with that many people theres too much chaos going on.
besides....

to NBC more like, I don't think it should get as much airplay, either. *snooze* I like equestrian events :P They aren't even broadcasting those at all.

indoor handball is THE sport we are not getting to see here in the states. so frustrating. look at this ridiculously awesome youtube clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zehw3g98LsA&feature=related&fmt=18
also... the indoor chicks totally have tiny shorts on so that's a moot point.

NBC is only showing the events Americans are expected to win.
I miss the days when TV showed all the countries. No matter what event.
BTW, both beach and indoor volleyball rule.
Too bad the most you arm-chair athletes know about the sport is at yourfat-ass, family, pick nick-jungle ball at your family reunion.
Now I know why NASCAR is popular. Just stare at cars racing in a circle. (*drool*...daaaa..aaaaaar...)

It's the best sport in existance, fact.
If I was going to pick one sport that shouldn't be in is BMX dirt bike racing, isn't that more of an X-Sports anyway?

I watched some MORE of handball this morning. It's being telecast, just catch it on either MSNBC, CNBC or USA Network.
And since BMX was voted in, they had to remove both baseball and softball from the Olympics. And I LOVE watching women's softball. Dammit.
But then, the Olympics are the only time for me to catch sports I normally don't get to see, like badminton, table tennis, archery, shooting, field hockey etc. Yeah, yeah I know, the tough and gritty sport of badminton - but after catching a few matches, it's pretty cool how they get them birdies to zip back-n-forth like that.
Oh, and from what I understand, badminton is the fifth most popular sport in the world. Crazy.

I care about beach volleyball! Diving and wrestling too. As you can see, Misty May is quite the dessert dish in her new hairstyle and as a woman I'm sure drooling over 'Jaws' and that wrestling shot of OctoMan'. Day-um what a shmexy pose!

Um, what? But I've seen both those sports - do you mean the next olympics or something?
*edit: But it must be said, when one nation dominates so massively in a sport, it shows it's not really international, innit.

Well Japan just beat the US for the gold in softball. Anyways, yup, the last Olympics appearance for both. Now, for softball, that sport may be in the Olympics for 2016; but they're saying so far, it won't happen.
Not sure whattup with baseball - but for that sport, it's always been a battle with Cuba for the gold. So the US hasn't dominated at all there either.
Another thing to keep in mind is the usual competitive season for both of these sports: training begins in spring, season begins in summer to early fall. So I gather it'd be difficult for the US to put together a team properly for each Olympics.

I’ve been enjoying the rowing. What’s to dislike about men showing they have stamina? That they are honed, hot and sweaty doesn’t come into it.
