been doing alot of art lately. playing with styles and hoping to improve both of my linework and painter skills.
This piece is about a lizard who is tricked into stealing stone eggs by birds that have the power to 'freeze' someone if gazed at. The lizard is now rendered frozen and is about to get eaten alive :[

I was working on a thunderdome piece after the contest was over because i wanted to do one anyways, so i just drew a super huge altantean/roman

hehe, I like the idea behind the first one. I'm also diging the color and like how the the background fads... and the texture on the lizard is cool. The thing that bothers me is the lizard's right arm... looks a lil skinnier and shorter than its left arm. Also, the arm looks a bit too stiff.
The second drawing is nifty... fix it up a lil and color it. This is just a design preference, but with an upper body that massive you'd think the legs would be a lil more muscular. I like the long thick arms and the huge chest, i just think the legs could be thicker as well.
As for the last one... awesome bone structure... not to sure about the line all the way done the body though.

wow that first one is really neat.
It reminds me of a crazy Miyazaki scene.
Yo, I really think you should put a bit more details on the groud like small sticks or something...

yeah that advice totally helps, i'll do some sticks and fix the lizards arm.
as for the strong guy, i actually tried the bigger leg thing and it took away from the 'massiveness' of his chest so i tried to compisant by making his stance look so 'solid' that the issue didn't come up but.. i failed :p
and for the last guy's center line, i think i'm going to make it look more like a ...erm..."vagina".
It will open up and have a weird spider line thing on the inside which doesn't like company.

Maybe the Atlantean/Roman's legs will look better if you let him spread stance...a bit hunched maybe....but may take away some of the galore it's showing......what about bigger feet:rolleyes:

The first one is cool, i love the idea of the little bird holding all the power.- and the expression of the creature about to be eaten.
Also, i like how there is a breese translated from the leaves in the scene.

The sticks and such do add some nice evnironment to the piece. Very nice improvement. One thing I would do, were to maybe add another bird guy close to him, so we get that sense of danger, or like, "oh no, he's about to die."
I somehow think, you could do a cooler face to the roman soldier, cuz it looks to cartoony imo.
the alien guy is pretty cool, but he doesn't look like he could hurt a fly.
I'm just putting out these suggestions out there, to help you think in diff. ways. You're a cool guy, and I like what you do, and your drive. Just trying to help out. :)

well, i wanted only one bird to be near the nest because it only takes one bird to 'gaze' someone until they are frozen. I wanted the lizards emotion to be 'oh f**k'. Like he is droping his jaw.
and i wanted the roman solider to be cartoon. I generally think most all of my stuff is cartoony, though i sometimes try to go realistic for some reason i always put alittle 'toon' in my pieces.
and possibley tonight i'll draw how the alien hurts people.

i think you need to check the anatomy on the arm of your atlantean. I think his deltoid drops to far down as well as blends into the tricep too much. I think you should draw the deltoid further up and accentuate the tricep. his elbow is also in a weird spot considering the hand position. it should be further to the back of the arm.
just some notes.

very clever the way you rendered the skin on the lizard (I see a frog but that is just me...;) )

davi you are doing well at progressing but basically your stuff needs more dynamism.

Well, I don't have any crits. I just wanna say that I really like the idea behind the first pic, as well as the execution. I feel sorry for the frog guy though. He just wanted to eat!

yeah, JUDGEmental, i completely agree... being dynamic is something i'm not too good at. I mainly focus on structure which i think at times limits my 'finished' work alot.
Though.. I'm trying to creep in backgrounds into my work... as meger as they are, i think over time the backgrounds will help make my work much more dramatic.
thanks for the comments everyone.
i'll keep in mind all the crits for feature work so i can continue on improving my flaws.
