Hey, I'm new to this forum and I'm new to drawing/painting/concept sketching etc...
As someone who has studied nothing, knows nothing (has no bad habits) and has done nothing, I'd like to know where to start.
I'm interested in formulating my ideas for games on to paper and learning about how a designer and artist communicate in the games industry. So, if you have experience there or know anything about it. Please tell, thanks.
P.S I'm (pre)studying to be a designer.

I see you first posted in TUTORIALS, TIPS, & TRICKS and it was moved. You were in the right place! Just read and absorb the stickies there, start a sketchbook, and start drawing away. Maybe still lifes to start and everything you see and you can keep in place for a few minutes. Later you can even start drawing stuff that WON'T keep in place. You can also hang out in the Community Activities or DAILY SKETCH GROUP section to keep yourself motivated. Dig up the CA archives, just about everything has been discussed countless times and thousands of good tips have been given.

thanks for leaving me a message. Ive heard time and time again that your ability to formulate your visions onto paper increases with practice. Its just, my practice kinda goes nowhere :frustrated:
should i be practicing on complete pictures or just little shapes and sorts of various things?

best way to start is to set up a sketchbook thread,
post your work up and people will help you along with where youre going wrong
and what you can do to improve

Practice will lack results if you don't know what you're practicing toward.
You draw unlike your drawing looks like what's in your head.
If it doesn't look like it, you keep drawing.
If you need reference, get reference.
If you need help, get help.
Simple as that.
There isn't a 10 step program.
Finish a picture and then post it in the crit section.
Everyone will let you know where you need work if you don't figure it out on your own.
