Hello Everyone! :D
I am currently looking into school for the fall of 2009 and I have three schools on the top of my list: Sheridan College (Bachelor of Applied Arts - Animation) Vancouver Film School (Classical and Digital Character Animation) and Max the Mutt (Classical and Computer Animation)

Basically I want to take my programs so that I can versed in both Classical and 3D Animation. I took a course on 3D Animation once that opened on Prince Edward Island but that program was a joke and the class ended up with nothing and no company would hire us. So I want a school that can give me good skills and good connections so that I can have that career I wanted 5 years ago!! :upset:

Anyway I already talked with someone from VFS and they sound really promising but I am wary about the cost. Sheridan I haven't spoke with yet but I've heard lots of good things about them and I'll have to contact Max the Mutt sometime to read more into their program.

Anyway what I am asking here is former students' experiences with any one of those schools/programs. Any of them at all, negative or positive. I'll be making my applications soon to these places and I hope to be making the right decision this time (cause I don't wanna be screwed again)

I'm the Director of Max the Mutt. It's against protocol for me to say anything about our programs! To find out about us, I suggest that you check out the Max the Mutt thread. It's been running for a couple of years, but the last part of it is current. You'll be able to get the contact info for students who have posted. I assume that you've already visited the website. I also suggest that once the school year is underway (another couple of weeks) you book a tour and visit the school yourself. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or Van Olson (Admissions Director) at 1-877-486-MUTT, admissions@maxthemutt.com. Good luck! I'm sure that if you look carefully into all the schools you've short listed, you'll find the school that's right for you.

I agree with Maxine Shacker - Check out the school-specific threads here on conceptart.org I know there is one for both Max the Mutt and Sheridan.

I am going into Sheridan's BAA- Animation (first year) this fall.
I can't personally attest to the pros and cons of the program since I have yet to start it but I did make friends with a small group of the 4th year students while i was in Art Fundamentals last year and one of them now has a job at dreamworks and another is working at a studio in toronto (i dont remember the name). i know this doesn't accurately reflect the program itself since each student gets out of it what they put into it but (IMO) it demonstrates that, as you have said, some 'good connections' can be found at Sheridan

I will definitely let you know about my experience with first year as it happens.

Hi Shannon! Just wondering if you've made contact with Max the Mutt students.

We are now beginning to book our first early application interviews (I noticed that someone is coming in the last week of September!). We are always available for tours and there is absolutely no pressure put on you to apply, so do consider for coming in for a tour and information session, and prepare questions.

I noticed that we haven't posted tuition rates ( we will). As I remember first year is $8000, and year two and three are higher (I think around $9000). The
fourth year (Concept Art and the Advanced Diploma in 3D Computer Animation) are very long years and therefore tuition is higher, but still much more affordable than equivalent programs at other schools.

We will be updating the web site within the next two weeks, and there will be a page for tuition.

All the best!
