I was imagining using a mini-gun with a sound blast that would allow jumping?

Miniguns are huge and heavy, and are more suited on helicopters than in a human's hand. Now with suit our sci-fi guy/girl gets to play terminator.

That is.. pick up that heavy killingmachine and go acrobatic :D

An hour 15 min. I'm not sure if she's jumping forward or backward, not happy with the gun design either. I'll save it for later to ink and color though.

So here's my take on the topic. I don't have time to finish the background, and it took me about an hour. I deliberately exaggerated the size of the minigun, and the suit resembles vaguely human muscles.

Dache - Great feeling! I think you could enlarge the minigun a bit.
Gorgoleon - Awesome work! Looks to me a bit like Tau Battlesuit. Are you a WH4K fan?
Funnyface - No matter where she's jumping to, her pose is classic. I really like it. It also reminds me of UT.
j.s. Sebastian - Outstanding illusion of motion and rotation! This guy is dangerous. It's worth the time!
Sudsy - I love the camera angle man! I think this one is the most dynamic so far.

sudsy: nice angle , pretty succesfull jump pose aswell, The distance between the 2 buildings doesnt look that big tho, so I wonder if he needed a jumpsuit to do that ;P
sabastian: killer image, lots of edrenaline shots :D
Funnyface: class! i love killah chicks :D
gorgoleon: lovely greyscale! lots of depth in the image, and I like the killer eyes of the (what seems to me cyborg).
dache: just cool.
powerhouse: what a super cool pose, yet very elegant like a ballerina :D unusual :D

My own piece so is an attempt to drew some more background and change the angle around a bit (as some of you pointed out I draw too often in frontal view). It was a very tricky pose and it'll need some work to work properly. Fun though :D

Hehe thanks Powerhouse! Yes im a pretty big fan of 40k oddly enough i was not thinking of a battlesuit when doing that, but i guess it came subconsionsly :)

Sudsy- I like your image and pose but i would personally remove the sun and rainbow to the right of the image, i think it steals to much attention if you get what i mean.

j.s. sabastian- Great colours and pose my only crit would be that it could use more definiton, more sharp strokes.

FunnyFace- Really nice pose i especially like the left arm that holds the handle at the top.

Dache- I adore the colours of the sky and the wide view.

Powerhouse- I like yours, especially the armor and the gun (it's so huge i get the feeling that the recoil alone would propel him trough the air :D).
I get a bit confused about his arms, it look like he has 3; one holding the back, one the middle and one the front. Is that correct?

Hamorhage-My favorite so far actually,i think you really nailed both pose and perspective!

"Sudsy- I like your image and pose but i would personally remove the sun and rainbow to the right of the image, i think it steals to much attention if you get what i mean." Gorgoleon, I'll take your advice and re-post improved image in my sketchbook sometime...

Mostly, I just think everybody should check the reference here for ideas, I didn't and I regret it. I should have known better (I very nearly got to play with on once...).

Well now I see it really looks like an arm - it's his right leg behind the gun. :) I have altered the image a little, and now I am posting the new version. Correct me if I should not do it this way (should I better replace my old one?). Thanx to all for the comments so far, and I can see lots of outstanding new works! :)

Dache - I bet you like it more this way. :) Your painting, I mean. It is really dramatic in my opinion.

Haha, dont let the title fool you. Daily Sketch is about every 2-3 days. SO no excuses not to do any sketches :D. SPend around 1-2 hours on every entry, and if you're too quickly finished you can either tackle older posts or even submit an other try to the topic. It's got me hooked and a lot of other people. I think I'm part of the regulars now, so hope you'll be too :D Good luck

Defiled Visions - OMFG! You smashed me!
Hamorhage - So did you, man! I really like your foliage.

It's me again. I read somewhere that we are allowed more than one sketch per topic.

So. Gorgoleon gave me an idea for which I thank him - the guy here is propelled by the recoil of the minigun. Further, I used a little reference and also put the gun onto his face, imitating a chopper pilot who controls the minigun with the movement of his helm. 2 triggers imitate chopper controls.

It took about 20 minutes to make it. It can be better, though.

Hamsta : Your black and white look like Manga Studio rendering but I'm not sure about , can you tell me more about , I'm just curious about this originality.

Lur : Massive concept, I like big bot, just lake of more nervous rendering but the sketch transmit the idea well and efficiently.

Djinn : I like the concept of reactor foot / composition and palette too ( I like the turquoise mask ) . Crush and hole on building are interresting to as an idea. May be the base drawing just lake of more solid base.

ashton: Great action pose and view angle. Funny & strange face.

Powerhouse : Great action pose too, but the machine gun didn't look really credible. Armor around the shoulder is really great.

NicholasLam : incredible great view angle and composition, pose is great too, but color break a bit this good sides ( 2 plan could be more separated with a simple warm/cold palette ) . But snow idea is a great & original.

Great Distance Composition could be interresting, but design are poor ( look on internet for photo ref ) , if you decide to work black and white , contrast more the value. You are in good way.

Brett_Schmidt Love this style ! I want the same as a puppet on my screen :)

Android27 This pose remind me something, interresting line a bit rigid at some place but efficient on the hand at first plan.

tuber A bit big picture for this rendering. I like wings idea.

DefiledVisions I like the torso and view angle with the front of machine gun.

Powerhouse The best thinking about the theme. This idea is really great and sketch go straight to goal.

vizaz : the glass globe have a 70's robot design. Funny.

goran Exellent in a lot of point ; rendering / pose in first but also design. Good and pro job.

Kolpar Value of your city mix with your character. I like the cartoon idea with arms like this. ( the pucca bad robot design)

Nightblue Great view angle and leg design; explosion is great too.

dingoq8 A bit messy lines everywhere for my eyes; but after a bit of concentration volume are readable, great gears on ths characters , may be a bit flat on the bottom of the boddy.
Thanks for your comment , I try to work my coloring knowledge and I want to test various things in DSG.

DavePGL Color change when exporting ? May be try to see if you haven't a trouble between your screen color profile and your application one.

Gumish Good idea about the moshion blur and the frontal view.
I love your image. It is full of colors and those domes in the background are quite original in comparison with our tons of skyscrapers. I'm very interested in how much time did it consumed.
I spend a lot of time, 1 hour for the line ( just dark pencil on paper ), and bout 1h30 for the colorisation and background ( Painter ). I have a Cintiq 12wx that help me to make faster this coloring job too.
Thanks for the comments on my roof, I wanted something different.

dagreengo Sketchy and efficient ! good use of colors as value, I really like it ! Thanks for your comment

Lingmerth Good design , volume / light , I love the mask glass and the colors in it. Thanks for comment :)

mnitschke - the best machinegun rendering so far by my opinion.
Tommoy - Now I can feel the power!

Sorry, I don't have much more time now to comment... But I think I notice a tendency here: whoever uses reference makes it a night image because of the spectacular fire-spit traces. But further, I see there are more night scenes now, even without this effect. Subconscious choice?

Lingmerth
August 18th, 2008, 12:29 PM
I think that most people feel that an urban setting is more interesting at night with all the lights.

Also the concept itself, a guy moving around on rooftops feel very "Covert Op"-ish and those kinds of things makes more sense doing at night.

Suggestions taken in and utilized (name followed by suggestion)
Goran: "Nice dynamic angle ,nice pose ,maybe some references for the sky ,find you way for the clouds"
Gorgoleon: "I like your image and pose but i would personally remove the sun and rainbow to the right of the image, i think it steals to much attention if you get what i mean."
Hamorhage: "nice angle , pretty succesfull jump pose aswell, The distance between the 2 buildings doesnt look that big tho, so I wonder if he needed a jumpsuit to do that ;P"

I'm enjoying misinterpreting these. At first glance I read "Mini-gun Rooftop Jumping" to mean some kind of co-op maneuver where your teammate could man a roof mounted mini-gun. I realized my mistake seconds later, but went with my initial impression.

goran brief-wise, I don't see mini-gun, and the jumping looks more like falling with style (yes, that's a toy story reference ;) ) due to the pose and the "buildings" running from top to bottom.
The lighting and sense of movement are pretty good.

Deevad It's as bare bones as you can go - M$ paint set on b&w and a mouse.

I like the character design, lot's of fun things to look at.
Lighting seems well thought out, with the transition from cools to warms highlighting her curves and gear.
The arm doesn't look quite right, seeming to bend inwards at the elbow. Same for the side boob :P
