j/k, nice job scumworks. Lovely use of the custom brushes if that's what they are. Man, I gotta start learning those...
Anyway, dumped 4-5 hours on this...but I just saw the old Bengal forum here and I'm just floored with color inspiration. Couldn't...stop...drawing...*collapses*

I think I like this method of sketching. I need more practice with it though. Perspective is off i think.
Digital ink and markers.

A lot of good ones today :)
forkface: Nice design
danielh68: I agree with strang, that is pretty awesome.
Vyle: I like it.
Only crit I can find is that they don´t seem very armoured.

Damn, that's real sweet Vyle
I've been reading Poetic Edda and Beowulf lately... I guess it shows.

Thanks for the compliment, Paper Slayer. And, you're right, it should be more armoured. I need to pay more attention to the topic, I just retained 'hovercraft' and I forgot everything else. Did the same thing for the "adventureous scarecrow' thread.
Vyle - awesome craft. love the strong shapes and the abstract quality it bares. BTW, I ventured into you site...very nice. Your movies are amazing. That female adroid head evolving into a 3D model is a trip! Do you use a separate software package to create these recordings? Anyhow, great job.

@hito: That's nuts man, I had the same theme. If I could get a quality scan with my POS scanner I'd post it but I did a dragon carrying a viking styled ship. Cool design!

I know I said I was just going to work digitally (no paper sketch, just straight to paint) but this one needed to be sketched..so I did. then I quickly painted a couple. I think this makes 10 for 10! looking forward to tomorrows!

I worked on mine a bit more, tried to make it a little more sleek and put it in motion.

Time to give something back to the community :D
Scumworks- along with what I said before, dig the way light is indicated by the spray of water.
PoX- wow, you really added a lot to it! Those tiny windows add a lot to the feeling of "armored"!
ZenGonzo- Lol, those characters' expressions are great! Underwater spaceship sounds pretty cool too...
forkface- Now those shapes look REALLY fast! This is one boat that's built for speed. :)
renone- nice airbrush quality of the rendering! Dig those shapes, it's "ww1 tank" silhouette really speaks of "armored". :)
danielh68- Nice different approach, didn't myself think of making hovercraft anything other than the "air cushion" variety. Got my eyes stuck on the little lady that is painted in the front rotor though. :)
Vyle- Cool shapes! Reminds me of an F18 Hornet with a giant load of ordinance. :) The textures are all awesome as well.
paper slayer- Interesting visual, like the craft is sneaking through the snow to deliver its payload of vicious commandoes. (I know boats only travel in water, but that doesn't mean hovercraft can't go onland! :)
hito- Cool idea, reminds me of a recent movie, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, where it's like before WW1 but there's awesome technology everywhere.
ilustre- Unfortunately I only know of Feng Zhu (http://www.artbyfeng.com/). I like the curvey shapes of your design though, and I think you're on the right track with that photo study. (can't say any more than that, I'm not a pro :D)
Hunger Artist- Woah, now that is like a manta ray with pincers! The way it floats so serenely is pretty nice atmosphere too.
MrKayne- Wow, that very well speaks to me of "gunboat"! The shapes are nice, but I really like the effect on the water..maybe it is more of a motorcycle of the sea? :)
(btw, thanks for the comment! Glad to hear I am slowly breaking out of my frustratingly resiliant monotony. XD)
DV8- nice to see you played around with the topic this month, nice to see the kind of evolution of your concept. :) The two you chose to color in particular I would like to play in a shootem up (video game). They are even colored red and blue for player one and two! XD
Hmm, seems like my comments are getting longer as I went on and starting to have smileys... o.O Wish I could say more but I am late for dinner. Man, I would kill for a double quarter pounder or a double double meal right about now...

Thanks for the comments danielh68 and silentbrain. Danielh68- I really dig your hoverboat, and it looks armoured enough for me... the unarmoured version could be made of wood! Thats the nice thing about this forum- no rules, do whatever you want!

Thanks for the comments!
paper slayer>> True about the not enough armor part... Oh well, let's say this is just a test prototype ;)
danielh68>> For the avis I always save backup files while I create a painting (the longer it takes to paint, the more files I have). Then I edit those in premiere.
DV8 >> nice those little sketches!
illustre>> Practicing perspective is very important. If you want really good step by step go onto scott robertson's webpage, he used to have tutorials lying around:

silentbrain : thanks for the huge post
DV8 : cool designs, I beg you to do some big ones.
PoX : You really level it up on that second one
Ilustre : also look at the colors used in your first pic, it has just the right look and feel. Reflective light comming from the sand, the bluish sky shadow areas and so on. As vyle said, perspective are of key importance, and will destroy any image if done incorrect.

Vyle- thanks, glad you liked them.
silentbrain. BTW I am a concept/ 3d artist at a video game company... maybe some of my professional work is rubbing off on me here :)

danielh68: Great pic. not much 'armor' but I guess the craft might be bulletproof. How much time would you say you spent here?
This is my take. I'm a day late, but for me it's unavoidable.

Hey Worldly Dave, thanks. Yeah, I forgot about the 'amoured' portion of the topic. I might add some plating upfront eventually.
Cocerning your question, the last couple of weeks I have frequented here more since I'm out of a job. If you meant the time for this particular piece, it took a little over two hours. I generally don't like to take as long, but I got wrapped up into it.
Thanks again.
