Greetings and exultations.

ok here's how it will work:

This is the sketchbook. The first post will be designated for fax about my sketchbook and the most recent "critique" picture and post. The rest of the thread will be for finished work and sketches, not advice.

Most recent critique post:

I need help
badly.

It seems like going to a conceptually based art school was the worst thing I could have done for my drawing skills. I need incentive to keep it up outside of homework and CA used to motivate me a long time ago.

I remember that people just sort of stopped going for awhile.. so I hope people comment here.

I'd like someone who is at least semi-professional to post technical advice, but beginners, feel free to make comments on anything that strikes you.

I don't have time for a large art dump so I'll just show you what I'm having troubles on currently. I'm having trouble with face anatomy and where to effectively add or subtract light.

If someone could give me advice on texture and light surfaces it would be much appreciated.

Here's what I've got so far

btw, I've noticed that the side of the face in shadow is a little off. In regards to symmetry I know what needs to be done...I just need to put in the work.

I would just say work on the nose structure a little bit, it kind of looks like he got hit with a shovel. I think if you put more shadow on where the bone meets the cartlage it would look a little more believable.
I'm obviously not a pro, but I have an extremely german nose and it definately has made it easier for me to see the bone structure haha.

You see where the nose meets the eyebrow and the bone kind of flairs out a little bit then narrows again before the big part of the nose? I think thats where you need to make it darker so the nose "pops" out more.
