Here is something I made a few weeks back. Its a character of mine that my friend prompted me to make. His name is Swindle. Please, I am begging for some actual critique, as its impossible to come by on DeviantART (Which often seems more like an art-themed social site). Be as critical as you want.

But I also have a question for you guys. Many times I've wanted to sculpt fire, or lightning. I have a few options narrowed down, but I've never tried either and want to ask people with some experience before I try it out.
Do you guys know what would be, aside from glass-blowing, the best way to sculpt transparent, or plasma-like objects? Or, since lightning is thin, would it work to sculpt it with the right color clay, then cover it in a layer of gloss varnish?
I also have a bottle of "Realistic Water", a type of transparent resin that you pour into a shape, and it hardens, looking much like clear water. I had the idea to mix a bit of it with blue paint. I would then take a very thin wire, and bend it into the shape of lightning, putting layers of this stuff on it.
As for fire, I'm not sure what to do.
