Hey everyone, been a while since I posted. The last month and a half have been crazy. But here are a few mural and chalk art pieces I have completed over that time. Comments, critiques, and money orders payable to me are always welcomed and encouraged.

The final Otakon 15th anniversary chalk art mural. 9' wide by 13' tall and 25 hours to make over 3 days.

A Yoda chalk art mural made for a local festival. This one was also filmed on time lapse photography so hopefully I can link to a youtube video soon. 12' x 12' and done in 5 hours (a speed attempt.)

A small Hulk chalk art for a class I taught on mural creation. This one only took about an hour and a half and was around 4 foot square.

And last, my own art... a mural for comic characters in an upcoming graphic novel I am working on... and the people they were based on posing in the same outfits at a recent con. This one is only a digital print, no chalk involved.

Hope you enjoyed this small art update, let me know what ya think! later.

"Otakon" is one of the rather disadvantageous names ever.
Nice artwork though.

;) Very beautiful and amazing chalk work. I respect how much time you put into them to make them look this eye-catching and attentive. But there's a problem. Using a grid is a great idea but not when it's visible. But if you are using a grid-like for the backdrop... are you? If yes, then it's all right to leave it but if not fix it. And where the sewer lid is on Yoda's side is bothering me, maybe it could have been substituted with a dark planet or something other and those sewer holes are drawing my eyes to it away from Yoda (whom is the focus).

Arteric, I'm guessing you had one hell of a good time doin' those chalks. Nice work... :P

xsdk01, just to satisfy my own curiosity, have you ever done any street chalk work?

xsdk01... I understand completely what you are saying about the grid. Sometimes there just isn't enough time when I am cranking to the last minute trying to finish a piece. And yes, sometimes I am just darn whipped when I am done and feel like being lazy.

Thanks for the comments everyone... hopefully I can get in at a horror or sci-fi convention and crank out a full on concept painting piece at 14 feet tall! Anyone going to a show and want their stuff reproduced?:confident

hey your work is amazing!! Its crazy how big these are but they came out just great, i love all of them. The yoda piece blows my mind, the composition and the use of shading is on point it has such of a mystical feel. I do understand what that one person said though about the sewer but its still awesome. What is the biggest size piece that you have ever done? I can't wait to see more of your work :)

It probably would have been better if I had said this first. Don't get me wrong, I do grids as well for most projects I start, mostly because it makes me feel more comfortable and confident. On projects that I start and finish, I never leave the grid visible anywhere unless it is to be necessarily used as part of the piece or background otherwise, no, I cover it up as best as possible. ;) And it's one of my worst pet peeves too, at myself and when I see it on other artists' works, if it isn't used as a part of the piece.
