Zoe Robinson ,the art director of Fantasy Flight Games ,asked me to do paint over the good old "Army of Scorpions" so it could be used for large print ( huge AGOT banner on neariest GenCon) ,orginal "army of Scorpions " used for card game was only 1350x1110 pixels. But I rather would like to make this scene from a scrach in hihg res ,than paint over old stuff. So I did...
Here's result , the source image has 10000x7000 pixels , PSD file has 943 megs :D This is oficially the largest file I ever created so far. Oh,yeah - I did actually - Venhelis map got 11423x5760 and way over 1.6 Gbytes but thsi is another story
for those who loves statistics -total time to complete :(aprox)10 hrs (splited into two days of work)

You made this in 10 hours?! You're fucking crazy dude! And you're also incredible. Even if I took a year, I would never be able to create something like this, but 10 hours? Wow. That is crazy good.
I love how you, in my humble opinion, made it look like one of the old masters works in some kind of way. Maybe it's the use of colours, or how the light falls. I can't really put my finger on it, but that is how I feel about this wonderfull piece.

Great take on the original... Like your reinterpretation of the sky! What I think could be improved is the distance between those lurking soldiers and the riders.
They are very close in terms of contrast, colourscheme, lightness etc..
Personally I would reduce the contrast of the riders, put an idea of dust between them...
Other than that - two thumbs up! cheers.

This is gorgeous. I'm a big sap for clouds and I love yours. I'm gonna have to join everyone else in expressing my shock at the fact that this is a ten hour painting. The gestures of the figures and horses are top-notch!

Gorgeous. Love the palette used.
Can we see what a little bit of it looks like at 100%? That's just a friggin' huge file.

Morano, I have seriously sat here and stared at that painting. 1st, it doesn't look digital at all, which is spectacular. 2nd I love the colors, the low saturations for sure gives it a looming and gloomy feel as if war is coming. You pulled that off like a champ. The only thing I see as being off, and please forgive me because it may be my own lack of knowledge of the equestrian, but the tail on the flag carrier's horse seems big, but it still works.
I am now contemplating a new desktop wallpaper, and that says a lot if it will dethrone Dr. Manhattan on my desktop.
