Hey guys. Barely got into life drawing this summer and I've been workin at it to improve my skills so I can apply to Art Center next year. This summer I took quick sketch with Sergio at L.A. Academy of Figurative Art and this fall I am taking a structure class with Charles Hu. These are some of my drawings that I thought were alright. As of now, I know I'm not ready, but hopefully posting my stuff online and getting critiques will help me out.

really watch your proportions. don't worry or fuss about tone too much, cause its really not that important. Try and make sure the figure is working structurally and linearly first, and then if you have time map out the edges. Quicksketch is really hard at first especially if you don't have the dexterity or mileage. But it will come, keep it up.

Thanks for the advice. I hope to be posting some more stuff up. I've been really trying to get these proportions right. Could anyone do a draw over to help me understand some of the proportion problems more?

Just try to think about the main masses
more. I just started figure drawing a few
months ago too and that helps the
proportions a lot i think. The first pic
has the masses getting bigger and
bigger as you go down the figure.
On the second one it looks like you
were just copying contours and your
proportions went to pieces. The rib cage
is huge and the lumbar area is way
too long. Try doing some drawings
where you just focus on the masses
and how they relate to each other.
Other than that they are great
drawings. I really like the womans
torso one.

Thanks a lot for the draw over. I can really easily spot the mistakes. I will be posting some more of my more recent stuff and see what you'll have to say. Once again, thanks a lot!
