I know I know cheeseball post but man I have to say that I am super pumped to play this game.
WC3 was new for me, I never got the chance to play the other related titles but I was totally blown away by that game and have officially deleted it from my comp so that I can once again be productive in life.
But WoW looks to be incredible and from what it looks like there will be no subscription to play which is huge in my eyes because I don't understand the justification for making me play an online game when I just bought the online game.
Anyhoo for those of you who havn't seen this game yet check it out, maybe we could get some of us together at some point and all play.

There will be a monthly fee for the game, but I admit the game looks like it'll be fun as hell.

looks good, actually better than most of those online games but i'd NEVER pay to play a game per month. Just another bill added to the 20 or so already per month...

No, I really don't think its going to be good. I've been playing MMO's since Ultima Online and I can tell that this game is going to live up to what everyone wants it to be. The community has a huge role in the development of the game. And most of the community is made up of annoying 12 year old brats. Maybe the monthy fee will filter out some of those people but you can bet there will be a lot of them left. I haven't beta tested it, so I really can't critise the game play. But, for those of you who'd like to test it, check out the website and sign up for the beta. It will probably be free.
But, for those of you that aren't hardcore Warcraft players, check out www.stratics.com for more MMO titles. Star Wars Galaxies is very good. And Everquest 2 is coming out in about a year or so (by my predictions). Also, a game called Planetside is out. Its a first person shooter MMO.

See I have had the opposite issue with the wc world in terms
of age group but then again each to his own.
I think the pay to play issue will be a major filter for the younger crowd although EQ does have its fair share of brats as well, then again the demographic buying pc and console games range from 7 to 40 so the mix bag will always bring up issues. There have been times I have played with older players who tend to get a little head strong and feel they should lead the pack, especially in WC3. So the door swings both ways in my opinion.
Still though I don't think WoW will break any new ground but I really see it as the beginning of something especially the balls out way blizzard tends to do expansions.
I am still totally pumped

AnarchyAo2: Every single of my coworkers were impressed upon seeing it at the E3.
I'm waiting for the Beta to investigate but of course you CAN'T judge a game until it's finall version is released. Take Asheron's Call for one : the first phase of the beta was very cool but the final product had some things that I found very irritating.
Some MMPORPG are aiming for realism and have kickass water ripple effect, refractions and all but end up looking monochrome. WOW on the contrary is rich and has it's own little style that I find appealing.
Yes, yes, we shouldn't droll all over a game for it's aesthetics but this is the only thing we have to feed on so far :)

"droll"... "feed".. guess I should get some fruit or something !

Presence: Yeah, I know what you mean about the older guys thinking they should lead everything. This might sound a lil nerdy, but in MMOs that why you duel them and beat the snot out the guy. Just bring him down to earth. And maybe rub it in their face a little. :D
egerie: If you want to get into 1st beta I'd suggest that you write on the WOW forums, because they usually hand pick 1st and 2nd beta members. And they usually pick the people that are the most active on the forums.

I really don't think so. Ultima will go down the crapper. EQ2, SWG, WOW, and Mythica will most likely be the top 2nd generation MMOs.
