Whoops... Forgot to do the ink on a separate layer... Sorry, if there is a quality issue, I understand completely! However, I hope folks get a good chuckle out of the picture.

Well, here's my first attempt at DSG. I had to do it kind of quick at my sister-in-law's house in a spiral notebook, so please excuse the lines.

A quick pencil sketch I did at work when I probably should have been working.
Needs alot more work, but any critiques are appreciated.

Sudsy: excellent, like it's the most normal thing in the world :D
burrito: Yam, yam..tasty chick..though her butt is a bit wierd looking.
If that was the kinda service you'd get, then sign me up for brain cleaning :D
prepsage: you really captured a sci-fi look here, that thing on his head is the most convincing of the entries so far.
akanaer: Love that angle, brilliant way to show what's going on...though its scary that the guy is awake, I'd figure you'd be put to sleep for a while during this procedure.
Anyway I just popped in to look for some inspiration, and I'm surprised how well everybody's is looking,
Gonna tackle this myself right after some healthy breakfast!

sudsy, i like the disclaimer thinger on the back. it makes the scene work.
zaphid, cute humour :> should work more on the picture.
android, also cute humour. basic idea is working, good expression on the cleaner, seems very 'old school gentleman butler' like. ... lined paper makes me slightly sad, though :>
burrito, chick is hot, but her angles are too sharp. nice tone. i like the monochrometastyness. yum.
prepsage, really working. great chair, and the pose of the technician is just right. and dude looks so relaxed being brain-cleaned.
akanaer, i like the idea, the mirror thing and then the brain shot at the foreground, up-close-and-personal to audience. dude looks stoned and in-denial of pain? he has to be strapped in is kind of disturbing.... heh... but, yeah, good start!
hamorhage, looking forward to your dsg for this one!

I chose to go a way other than making a brainwashing machine. This isn't my style at all, but I decided to make it more "coutour", abstract and cleaned up, to emphasize the "salon" part. Also improvised with putting the small poster on the window. This is my first partaking in this activity, so I am proud of how it came out. Took about 40 minutes.
Edit: the arm is fixed now.

i think it's a fun topic, not so obvious maybe but that should easily bring some thinking on the image (unfortunately it didn't work for me =) ).
i tried to keep it around the hour, for practice...uhm...i liked the idea of the giant machine ending with a little little part for the scrubbing...eheh i mostly focused on the mood, it looks cool in my photoshop thumbnail, so i guess i just rushed the "rendering" and wrong perspective =)

lol at the theme.
The least damaging method I came up with to scrubbing brains would probably be to stick a brush up through your nasal cavity into the head.
nice works so far, this is a pretty weird theme :D

this turns out to be quite an interesting post so far.
I'll be posting some crits when I finish my piece, I wont comment on everybody's anymore unless you specifically ask for it. I'll just pick out the ones that are most interesting.
Anyway, I'm gonna do my piece in illustrator, I was inspired by the work of boomcha in the previous post, and I havent used illustrator for ages. just wanted to post the idea I have in my sketchbook, and there's a drawing I did from a reference that helped me visualise the style, so thought I'd post it in case anybody else gets ideas from it.
PS: you probably notice I moved the picture when scanning, thats why his face looks wobly :D, and I need to fix the chick's body too, its wrong on the left side.

prepsage: I enjoy the VR helmet concept. It seems like a MIB concept where seeing a light "cleanses" the foul memories.
akanaer: Seeing everything from the point of view of the brainwasher is interesting. I like how the customer is strapped in!
marsc: Everything seems to be painless! Everyone looks to being enjoying themselves while the cleansing is going on. I love your drawing.
pepps: Dark. Gloomy. Unwilling victim. What's not to love?
hamorhage: Very interesting. I like the scrubber gun!

My entry, little dudes opening you up and cleaning you good on the inside, lots of machinery involved!
Crits encouraged!
Muleskinner: Interesting concept O_o she looks like uh.. she's enjoying it! orgasmic brainwash hehe.
Hamorhage: Loving the comic style, can't wait to see the finished piece, it will probably be mind blowing.
Noch: That looks nightmarish D: only crit would be that it doesn't have a 'salon' feeling, it feels like if she fell asleep at home and some alien bug is trying to scan her brain through her nose. otherwise, I love the atmosphere!
goran: Interesting one, looks more like an ad though, I imagine this is what you were aiming for? looks kick assed though D:
pepps: Just wow, amazing! and painful looking!
Powerhouse: Nice first post here! only crit would be that you should double check the anatomy, specially her arm, looks a bit too wide. I'm loving the atmosphere you tried to give to the salon though (specially the .. brain 'styles') haha, great stuff.
marsc: Now THAT is how usually a salon looks like (not that I frequent one mind you!) I love how they're going on about their business while getting their brain washed.
Anyways, great stuff everyone, I'd comment more but man, it would make this post huge, interesting DSG so far!

Edit: O made this poster for Happy Brain. I'm not used to create stuff in illustrator so quite happy with this attempt.
Are there any people who know illustrator well? See I don't know if inking stuff in illusrator is easy..I guess with a custom brush it can be done. I normally ink my work on paper and then trace it to live-paint. It's just a pain that you cant select more then one area in a loive paint to apply gradients...it just applies gradients in each individual piece...That's why I tried this approach instead today...kinda wanted it to look cheese-ball anyway :D I might still ink the drawing and make the comic page I originally wanted. Who would've known this would be such a fun theme?
http://www.nightgig.com/oneminute/MYTH/happybrain_logo.jpg
Anyway for some crits and thoughts:
marsc: fantastic, delivious ladies always welcome on a piece of paper :D
love that style, keep working at it.
Powerhouse: equally great image. really captured that shop look, not fond of the copy pasted poster,
would look better if you drew something sketchy like the brain drawings. much better.
pepps: that's one heck of a machine for that procedure :D
goran: like the stylish futuristic drawing, not feeling the typeface or color of it...
noch: was thinking the same, nose drilling seems easiest :D
muleskinner: I like the comfy looking machine.
Izra: brilliant idea, I love how you took an almost surreal approach to it.
The painting itself could do with some hard strokes to define it a bit better.
Never be afraid to try and screw up the image..I know I am :)
gentrifier: Holey smoke! I'm not seeing a happy ending for that patient

Ahem! Here is my rough sketch... part 2. (I put one up with outlines... but it was killing me to look at so I took some off)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v28/lilcutietanya/brainscrub-1.jpg
It's not in pencil 'cos... the pencil one was scribbled to death.
Hamorhage: !!! You're doing Illustrator too! ...That's my territory :P
How long did it take? Do you use Illustrator a lot too? And oh my god I want to cuddle Mr. Happy Brain! The only thing is the gradient on the girl's face is a bit weird to me... I think I'd use a gradient mesh there. Or lighten the dark. Besides that... it's awesome.

prepsage: yummy, a high quality sketch :) I like the faces.
Powerhouse: those designed brains are hilarious :) the cutted brain pieces are morbid...
marsc: beautifully depicts the topic.
Hamorhage: I like it :D the woman's expression is much better than in the previous sketch, it's my fav element (though the logo is wonderful too), she's determined, I almost see crazy lights in her eyes, she _really_ wish to clean his brain... ;)
bombchu: funny approach, nice render, great pose!
and it's good to see the other different approaches too :)

Bombchu: I really like your flow of drawing, it's very personal. You can see your own style coming through in your illustrator drawings.
I see what u mean now though with how lineart doesnt work for you. I presume you sketch with an artbrush directly into illustrator. I think the strokes are too thin for the style you use, but I think aswell that it looks too sloppy. Somebody pointed me out to this tutorial (http://www.blog.spoongraphics.co.uk/tutorials/how-to-create-your-own-cartoon-character):
It shows how to create some kick ass lineart. Although I'd use the same style you use for the characters, for the background, it really works for you.
As for me venturing in your territory, well I'm a hungry artist who wants to know, do everything. Jack of all trades master of none really fits me. I do paintings, comics, posters, websites, video, logos,... I quickly get bored so change is very important to me :D Oh yeah..gradient meshes..don't know how to use them, I'll look up a tutorial about that.

Harmohage: Oh yes, I definitely know the background elements are busted :P It was supposed to just show you guys where I was going, and then finishing it oh so polished later, like the snow white one... however... uh... I'm bored of it! lol
I'm really happy you can see my style there. :) I just made it up in Spring!

My shop's scrubbing and cleaning is based on triggering the brain's electrodes to get those pathways cleared up. I hear this guy is trying to remember where he left his car keys.
