Zorn is incredible at maximizing his limited color palette. if i remember correctly, he used something like: Yellow Ochre, vermilion, ivory black and cremmtz white or zinc white.
Just for kicks, here are his watercolors that he executed during his 20's

fantastic, reminds me why I need a Zorn book so bad, we should add some more images to these priceless threads.
