hey... I'm new here. I've had a drawing tendency for awhile, but never really allowed for it to mature or develope much. lately, I've been doodling more and wanted to come here to gain some perspective, focus and direction for improvement. I'm going to get an anatomy book soon (recommendations?) and begin from there. I don't know anything about lighting or shadowing, so was hoping to learn about those concepts too.

I'll start with a few of my finished drawings from high school art class:

MC Escher reference, and then a random kitty internet photo reference.

these are some random things I've done since high school and am hoping to reproduce in a cleaner and more detailed format, with digital coloring/affects. I'm beginning classes soon.....

You're stuff is more than just doodles. You underestimate your drawings. They're great; I love M.C. Escher too! The eye is great. And if you can shade, you can record shadows. It just takes practice; you have to really visualize in your head where the light is coming from and where the absence of light would be if something is blocking the light.

Make sure you put wax paper or tracing paper over your finished drawings when storing them. It looks like some of the lead has smeared on that kitten over time.

I'd like to see more!

[If you want a little thread avatar, attach an image to your first post, and that image will attract people to come :)]
