so i consider myself a generally creative person, but here's some background.
as a kid, up until i suppose high school, i was always drawing. often i was just copying out of comic books and from classic WB cartoons. i quit when i started high school, and didn't really start drawing again until i had this graveyard shift job say 3 years ago. after high school i went to university for general studies, did that for two years, and checked out and went to culinary school.
now i am faced with the prospect of going back to school at 27 (i know not very old), and i am trying to decide what to do. i really enjoy art, and i think i would like to pursue it in school, i just don't know if i really have what it takes. sometimes i think, well if i can achieve what i have in 3 years, if i focused on my education and started from the basics in a proper learning environment i would do very well. sometimes though i worry that i am just not creative enough to really do anything interesting. a lot of the concepts involved with art lately seem to really be escaping me, and i wonder if it's my lack of foundation skills.
also i really love architecture and the principals and aesthetics of that world, but i worry about just jumping in blindly to that as well. though i really enjoyed it when i took classes in high school.
SO long story short, my real question is... will i help myself taking art classes in school or should i just really focus on repetition and study in my spare time, and i will be able to pick it up on my own time?
i do want to teach, and that was what i was going to go back to school for, but now i am wondering... should i major in art studies with a minor in something so i can teach either art or whatever my minor is?
any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
