someone help me with the lettering near the bottom of the wall textures, they dont look right, and not in terms of being able to read it or not, its supposed to look old/unreadable. It just doesnt look in theme with the rest of the texture :)

yup, you're right i personally think that the red you picked is too bright.
there's a good article about the "true" color of things here (http://www.3dgate.com/news_and_opinions/000911/0911eoken.html) .
This is NOT a painting article however...it can be used with painting (i think, i only use black and white :) and pencils)
it's mostly an article for 3d-thingies... but your qeustion applied to it IMO.
hope this helps...
btw. : If you wouldnt have said anything about it, i wouldnt have noticed it..it looks really great!

yes, i agree, very nice textures. I think i see what you are talking about with the lettering too. the lettering should actually be scraped off in the same direction as the scratches on the metal. maybe also more vertical scratches on the sliding doors (think functionality and how they would scratch during real use) hope that makes sense......

good looking stuff -
I would suggest 2 immediate things that'll improve these - the first is where you have the vertical shadow - the scratches should also be in shadow - well more in shadow I guess, because otherwise they can look flat.
but the thing that I noticed first was the weathering/decay on the 'section 2' text - and the arrows.
you have the same wear on duplicate graphics - is this how the font is? or did you do one and duplicate it? which ever, try making each individual graphic unique. if you're using Photoshop to make you graphics - put them on a new layer and go over with the eraser tool with different brushes. where ever you have a texture which is simply a mirror on the same image, it's worth working into that mirrored part. In real life, you'll find you don't really get mirrored damage to something unless what's hit it is symmetrical and has hit it dead face on.
(im referring to the doors with the arrow heads on here, really)
when you do any wear and tear - it's a good idea to give some controlled thought on the likelihood of where it would actually happen.

and look at their 'attention to detail' section - they have online - video tutorials - you might have to register first though.
I found the lettering a little ilegable - I thought it said 'security' not 'section' at first glance - I think it's more a problem with the colour than the font - try black - or try putting the text in a boxed area, which is black or darker brown.
I also noticed that the vent is inconsistent. I can see what you're trying to do - 3 thicker spaced vents and 2 thiner - but if you're not careful - it could confict witht he viewer's sense of perspective. I would suggest making them all the same thickness, or change the thinner 2 - like join them together and turn them into a grill.
looks cool, clean textures, though. thanks for showing them to us
cheers
