Meanwhile, past the northern seas, on the rocky highlands of the kingdom's borders, another border garrison is found razed. The faces of the dead sentries are frozen into expressions of sheer terror. The emblem found on their attacker's flag bears an unfamiliar design.

Name: Woordenboek (Woord for his friends. momentarily he has none)
Sex: undead (ex-male. but it doesn't so important anymore, except that it would hurt him if I wrote "it")
Age: 34+5 (years as human+undead)
Race: undead ex-human
Occupation: wandering undead (ex-gardener and veggie farmer)
Skills: Earpiercer Singing (he was never a good singer, but becoming an undead, his singing voice is his most powerful weapon, spooky, frightening, near unbearably horrible),
vegetarian cooking (he can't eat or even taste the meal, but he gladly makes it for his friends. or tells the recipe. yeah, he understands, his hands aren't his good old ones anymore), don't need meal or comfort
Personality: kind, nice, a true pacifist, plant-loving, romantic (and a bit sensitive, so don't laugh!)
History: Woordenboek is a simple, peaceful child of simple, peaceful parents who chose his names from a book of names. Woordenboek was the very first word in the book, more precisely, it was the first word of its title (Woordenboek van vornaamen).
the boy grew up with this name, led a peaceful life among his flowers and vegetables. then the war came and an evil battlemage turned the whole village to undead. there was a battle where everyone perished except Woordenboek who succesfully run away before the fight. a few years passed and he realized he wasn't a simple zombie, but a pretty tough undead. his body isn't decaying anymore, it's very hard and strong. he has no fighting ability, though, but he prefer it this way.
he's wandering and searching for true friends. his only companion is his pet carnivorous plant, Belly, who is very shy with strangers.

"You're very energetic today." - he added, in order to involve Belly in the conversation. He wished for a dialogue.
Belly didn't answer (she never did - well, she had no gender being a plant, though a very unusual one, but Woordenboek loved to imagine her as a female being) and continued her experiments. She was developing a new technique for catching insects.

In a stunning move, Gaylor unleashes phase one of operation rainbow. Soldiers bearing the crest of the pink heart move into kingdom in larger numbers, setting up forward observation posts and cutting off vital trade routes from one village to another. More border villages fall to sporadic attacks under the command of the nefarious commander Harry of the Random. Four miles west of Shaim, an elite commando group led by Lieutenant Binky carries out their mission - the elimination of all potential annoying sidekicks in the kingdom.

While the clouds of conflict were gathering in the north of Kingdom, a lone boat approached the western coast. An old man was rowing the bow. He had a band covering his eyes for he had lost his eyesight. You could tell he was a wizard- that ancient and pagan-ish kind. The other man in the boat was a lot younger and he was guiding the wizard.
They reached the small islands near the shore of the Kingdom. They left behind the crying seagulls and ignoring a strange man crying even worse than the birds with a fireplace upon one of the cliffs they stumbled upon the sandy strand.

"We there yet Master?" the old man asked.
"Aye. We just stopped," replied the other man and drew his battle-axe.
"Let's just hope my dad won't find me in this land." he said after a while.

Name: Liam "Shanks" McFine
Sex: Male
Age: nondescript... old
Race: human
Occupation: ex-druid of the Wisdom Acquiring Noble Knights of Excellent Rambling Skill... outcast from this community for some reason... currently the serving wizard of Master Wee
Skills: supposedly some spells... speaks Fairish
Personality: He took being outcast from the druid community seriously and has never recovered from it. Apart from being upset and whinging about it he likes to give advices at the most inappropriate moments. He also likes determinating and announcing clearly obvious things.
History: nobody knows...
the young man:
Name: Sean "Wee" McKellen
Sex: Male
Age: 20ish
Race: Human
Occupation: warrior of the McKellen clan
Skills: excellent with an axe
Personality: Sean is quite a tenderfoot at the moment as he's left his homeland and come to the Kingdom. That's why he took the wizard with him... at least thats what's he telling everyone. He sometimes can't stand his companions weird behavior but he's stuck with him.
History: After an incident neither of these two want to talk about in their homeland Wee left taking Shanks with him. They took a boat and after a couple of days were at the sight of the Kingdom. Following the incident Wee's father is looking for him and Wee doesn't wish even to imagine the punishment he'll get when caught.

...but nothing happened.
Woordenboek quickly forgot about his desire for change and enjoyed the company of various flowers. He was that type, surely, but still... it was strange. As if the meadow would capture its visitors with its sweet quiet atmosphere.
Meanwhile, in the nearby Murky Woods, Belly found a quiet place to stay. She twisted her tendril around a branch and waited patiently with her mouth open. It was a good place indeed, with many big and tasty (and silly) insects, so Belly soon became significatly bigger. She shut her mouth and took a nap.
The wake up was sudden and frightening for our slumbering plant. A suspicious figure stood there, curiously poking her.
It was Gwyrm "Dandy" L'Hokshrath, the bowman of the elit commando. He was a fine soldier, but he loved his private little expeditions and the scenery was really captivating for him.
As we all know, Belly was a shy plant and she hated if someone disturbed her rest. She got so upset that she acted instinctively.
CHOMP!!!
http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh287/shiNIN666/gfx/encounter.jpg
Both got shocked.
Dandy obviously frightened because of this unexpected development, moreover, the smell of Belly inside was not quite to his taste. Honestly, he became nauseated so much that he barely could stand on his own feet.
On the other hand, Belly preferred the nice natural smells, especially those of tasty insects and decaying bodies.
The "Power of Seduction - manly smell for classy gentlemen!" that Dandy applied just a few minutes ago, agitated her tender inner self.
She released Dandy's head and felt miserably and really upset.
Dandy panted and tried to find some fresh air, then collapsed.
Just before that, Belly quickly slapped him in the face with her strong tendril and ran away as fast as a moderately big, schocked and usually pretty brisk two-legged plant is able to.
She knew such guys are rarely alone.
Woordenboek was in danger.
((Ahnem Mee: I had no problem with your female character, she was a fine girl, but you stopped using her and I missed the female warmth and beauty. every great epic tale need women ;)

Meanwhile, in the Pretty Meadow, someone is sneaking up on Woordenboek.
It is Franky, who had secretly joined the Elite commando group that was now in the nearby forest.
He was looking for heroes to capture, sentinels to silent, messengers to intercept, or maybe just a friend to speak to.
-"Pssssht", Franky whispered, when he saw someone with a straw hat looking at the clouds.
Name: Franky
Sex: boy
Age: agesless evil, though quite a young one
Race: meh
Occupation: rankless member of the vast legion of Gaylor
Skills: Ride a pony, pose on hilltops, lift an axe - almost above his head
Personality: shy, lonely, not very good at folowing orders - hasn't seen a whole lot of the world either

And then if al goes well we might dish out some swordfightin' or have a knucklefight before anyone besides Franky gets to Woordenboek.))

Having a chat - and pretty soon a fight with Eryn is the mysterious cloaked man, and of the original character Arwen little is known other than that she was shopping in Knights-R-us. I still have plans with that one too.
A lot of characters I know, but I like to be where the action is, and while I'm at it get things going. That said I didn't really plan to make any more characters, but in the case of Franky I couldn't resist. I kind of felt Woordenboek needed someone that wasn't too destructive to interact with. There's cookies and a pat on the back for anyone who can guess where I got my inspiration for him, btw.
I'm sorry if I caused your part about playing Kish becomming moot - especially for someone who has said before writing in English was quite hard, but in any previous roleplaying experiences I've had before, no-one has ever decided on the actions of someone else's character either... Which is actually a whole matter in and on itself but I'll address that issue below.
Long story short - I'm sorry for winding back time and changing things afterwards, I'll try not to resort to that again... What were you drawing exactly, if I may ask, and did I ruin it by messing with consistency?
I'll also try and state more clearly in the future where any given character of mine is, who he or she's talking to and without giving too much away, maybe tell what he or she will be trying to do, so that others can anticipate if they like.
...And on the subject of other people's characters:
Without trying to make any rules for playing here, there's a certain thing I'd like to ask anybody who's interested a question about.
I realise it might be hard to make a picture of your character interacting with that of someone else, without knowing for sure that what you draw will be to the likes of the other player. It might something we should ask everybody's opinion on, to make sure we won't cross any lines.
My thoughts on the subject would be: it's allright as long as no-one takes too great liberties, for example in a duel, the character's player should be the one who decides if a blow will actually defeat him. If we stick to drawing intentions - character A shooting an arrow heading for character B - and leave the results to the other players (character B can barely dodge the arrow, causing him to trip and fall for example), we should be alright.
The major issue here then would be - will this slow our storytelling down too much?
If it's the same for you, I'd like your thoughs on this, guys, so that I can adapt if need be, and in any case be prepared.

Soon after reaching the shore the both travellers left their trusty boat ashore and went inland. They were walking for a short while until they reached the edge of the forest. The trees stood together as a dread for unwary and foolish. Green mist shrouded between the trunks and stumps and semi-darkness crept beneath the garlands of leaves. Ankle-deep pits of moss grew everywhere and howls of unknown creatures pierced the otherwise tranquil air every now and then.
"Are we at the edge of the woods Master? I think I heard the leaves in the wind" the blind wizard asked.
"Yes Shanks, we are. And I suppose these are no ordinary woods... they look... suspicios. I don't entirely like the place."
"I wouldn't know of course but I think you're just afraid of some randomly scattered trees." the wizard shrugged and didn't see the gesture Master Wee pointed at him.
"So are we going in or is it your fear that keeps us ashore? I don't feel my shanks moving or hear the sea distancing." he said after a while.
"We're going already," Wee said and went forward amid the trees leaving the already scarce sunlight behind.
"Ahemm... aren'tyou forgetting something?" the wizard asked in a demanding tone.
"Sure, right... here you are..." Master Wee said and gave the far end of his axe to the blind man to hold on as they slowly went inside the realm of mist.
"You know, I think you're too relying on your eyes Master. You must learn to see with your ears... then you would see only the true enemy not the scary things. You have lots to learn young lad." the wizard said.
"You wouldn't say," Master Wee replied. Gesture again.

((okay...I was bored this evening so I made two additional drawings concerning my chars. Here they are.))
Soon both travellers felt the darkness thickening and the scarce sunbeams dimming and reducing. It meant the arrival of night so Wee happily to leave his fellow for a moment went off to fetch some firewood. He returned not-so-soon to find his fellow lying in the moss half asleep. As Wee hadn't taken any flint from home having a "keen" wizard by his side he roused the wizard and asked to light the wood. After some charred handfuls of moss because of missed fire spells they had a nice fire before them. For a moment they sat there when Shanks said:
"You know Master McKellen? I think this actually is a big forest. And deep as well. We might not find the exit without a guidance of the fire spirits"
"You mean you want to brag about the only meaningful spell you know? Do
you want to call the prophecies now? I mean its a nice fire overall. I wouldn't wish to spend the rest of the night without it if something goes amiss."
"I know the spell correctly," Shanks replied a bit offended.
"Sure... go ahead." Wee said and kept a certain distance from the fire. And the axe in front of him if in case his wizard opened a gateway to other realms filled with not so neat creatures.
The wizard took some herbs from his pouch and threw them in the fire. The flame grew steadily to an impressive size and hissed as if awakened from sleep. The wizard spread his arms and chanted the words of power.
http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/4880/prophecyxq1.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
The flame started taking forms and the wizard asked in an overly-exaggerated voice:
"Oh show me oh spirit of the oh fire! Oh show me the land and oh its heroes. Oh let be see the path that oh awaits us!"
"Oh put a sock in it will ya?" Wee said and kept his eyes on the fire.
Suddenly the flame took various shapes and forms. Shanks whispered as Wee looked at different creatures and characters emerging from the wavy surface.
"Pig riders, mallet swingers, I sense the grasp of undeath as well Master. This is not good. Not good indeed. I sense vengeance for loved ones. I sense fear and despair being set at this very moment. This Kingdom is at the verge of something great yet horrible. Many will perish."
Then suddenly the tip of the flame splashed in pink hues and formed a pointy tower with a diabolic symbol upon it. Then the flame popped out and left them in total darkness with the hissing of leaves around them.
http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/9229/visionrk9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
"What was that Shanks? Was it the Bane? Was it really it? Is it in this land?"
For a while Shanks didn't reply. But when he did he was short on breath and stuttered.
"I'm afraid so. Only for him the fire spirits would've used such evil colour. Didn't you see that lad? I thought you at least had a pair of eyes. What's more... I think he'd sensed my tapping into this Kingdom. I think he might be aware of us now."
"But I thought that the Bane was just a legend. I didn't know it existed."
"I'm afraid it does. Now we must embrace ourselves for an enemy so mighty you'd never faced. And I think this land is in trouble as well."
"Ahh... I think I'll have some sleep first then. I don't think he'll sense us in this forest. Good night."
And the wizard was left alone with his fear.... well at least up until the point when he fell asleep.

Which reminds me.
How's your next contribution comming up, Eryn?))

((oh darn, I forgot the flower on the hat... unlike you, Ahnem Mee. your version of my characters is cute... :) the hat is nicer this way, with a messy top, I will draw that so too in the future :)
I thought the teaparty was just okay for the lonely not-so-perfect-soldier Franky, I was just unsure about the totally pink cup ;) and I couldn't do more, because I dunno what Franky really want, or Binky, I can only respond if something will happen.
btw, Belly was frightened because of Franky... another stranger with a pink heart... but she trusts Woordenboek... to a certain extent, the guy is not a bright person. so she's a bit cautious now. but if there's another enemy... they will unite! in running, if that's possible.
maybe I talked too much again...))

((Question.
What is this thread's policy on violence? Since lots of people are running around with pointy things (or large hammers), things are going to get hurt eventually - but should or shouldn't we actually depict the gore, is what I'm getting at. If there's people with weak stomachs here, raise your hands! Likewise; if anbody is planning to go Starship Troopers or HOSTEL on me, speak up now, because I might need to fidget with the R in my monitor's RGB then.
That said, good to here from you again Eryn - thought you'd left us for a moment there.
Bring it on! *Popcorn*))

((Ahnem Mee, I think it's best if the ones fighting kinda talks about it with eachother and comes up with something both likes. If one goes like and mashes the others character to death, then it's not particulary funny for the other player. If one instead launches an attack or hints that he/she is about to attack then the other player have time to respond. And it's not fun for others if someone starts godmodding, like "ur guys are dead now lol".
Just what I think, but please feel free to talk about it everyone how you want it to be like. It would be best if we find a gameplay that everyone enjoys.
And about the gore part, I think we all need to talk about it how we feel for it, if it's ok. I mean I wouldn't mind a chopped off head here and there. But we maybe should come to something that all agrees with. ))

Eryn's heart burned with sorrow. His pale cheeks glistened with tears.
These would be the last tears that Eryn ever cried. Now there was only complete hatred.
Summoning his sword to his hand and magic to his being, he strengthened himself on the pleasure he would find in destroying his foe.
Eryn charged at his opponent in a blur of speed. His sword swung low, aimed at spilling his opponent's guts.
(( sorry for the cheaply drawn background. my photoshop died and so i felt so not-motivated to redraw a proper background or add anymore action panels after the third one..ima go have a cry lol))

((@ LORD M: godmodding? Tell me about it; I've seen first-hand what it can do. (Been a RP lead someplace else, and it kinda tears down ones beliefs in Mankind if you think everbody who can spell 'Maturity' and type it with both hands too, actually behaves that way.) Nevertheless, I've think we've got a nice keen group assembled here, so there won't be anything a simple chat can't cure if you ask me. About the gore: I'll stick to funcional bloodshed, if that's okay. I don't think gore is beautiful but it has it merits if you want to bring across a message... (I just like suggestion more is all. Somehow it has style to it), and every character has the right to leave the building with a bang.
Also, I can handle a lot more drawn than seen in a film, and any Conan-type of character should be alowed to carry around lopped of heads if he wants to - I don't want to interfere with established style-icons.
Talking of violence:
Eryn - after I post my pics (pretty soon I hope), feel free to deal the cloaked guy a killing blow. All I'd like to do afterwards is have him say a couple of things before he joins the boys' choir forever, so break a leg and have fun.))

((...And here they are...!))
As Eryn speeded towards his challenger, sword thirsting for blood, The Cloaked Man commenced a series of gestures Eryn knew all to well...
445258
445259
A sword like that of Eryn manifests in his opponent's hand, in the nick of time blocking his low blow.
445260
-"Two can play this game, Eryn - but who ever taught you to raise a blade against an unarmed man?"
445261
The Cloaked Man pushes back Eryn's sword and holds his own at the ready.
"Is there then nothing left of the noble man you once were? If I die by your sword today, many more will follow and not all of those will be the ones that destroyed your life. Will that be the price you want to pay for your vengeance, Eryn? If so, then be done with it quickly."

((hi people, I'm back from my little holiday - I need much more...
well, I have not weak stomach :) okay, there are limits, but some blood is natural if we have so violent people here, I think.
and I hope noone here would make an "I chopped your character's head" scene...
oh, and I'm a pacifist (the fact I play shooting games have nothing to do with it :)), my characters too and I like to write and draw funny scenes, but I won't be offended if somebody comes - not with an innocent smile and a white flower... ;) naturally. life is tough in this world. I have plans, so Woordenboek may get a more useful ability (something he can hurt people with) and he will use it if he absolutely must. he doesn't actually love every human being, he has bad experiences, he had a peaceful but not very happy life. he need friends, he's optimistic, but even he's not stupid enough to think everyone is nice....))
