Hello conceptart.org. After the usual lurking around for some three years or so I've started to draw again myself, and I'm going to try to keep it up.
A colleague and I decided that we were gonna start up our own sketchbooks.

My main problems that I can see at the moment, technically, is that I'm often too sloppy and that I'm using way too much strokes.
I want to tighten up my sketches, use my arm more than my wrist, start do sketch larger in general.
Draw from life!
Get a good grip on anatomy with the help from the Vilppu-classes and the standard books, and hopefully start to throw in some digital colours.

C&C is very welcome. Cheers!

Welcome!

Seems like we have the same plight, I'm starting back to sketch again after 2-3 years...

Welcome Snake, you finally made it.

Your sketches looks great. I'm thinking of Bilal a bit when I see the top ones. Anyway, kepp it up.

Hey man good to see you here and its great you started drawing again.

If you want to draw more with your arm, the only thing I can tell you is to use wider suports (A2) and do lots of quick referenced sketches. If you instantanly use your imagination, you'll do something very thight on the corner of the page.

By the way, there is no problem with doing lots os strokes as long as they are not in the contour.

Anyway, i'm probably not the one who should be telling you this. You are way a better drawer than I am.

Keep on and focous first on the human body. There are probably some things you dont remember anymore.

P.S. sorry about the bad english

Hey. just came to say thanks for the constructive comment you did at my sketchbook.

I've already been doing that loose gesture before doing the definitive contour but I still can't totaly see the figure in the space but I think the problem is in the fact that I don't deal very well the lightning of the body. So, I'll try to fix that.

Thanks a lot, keep on and I'll be visiting your sketchbook in every once in a while:wink:

Being lazy and sketching instead of animating, here's some doodles from imagination I did today at work.
I messed up the rightmost head, it looked really nice in the sketch and then i screwed it up when i tried to define the eyes and the cast shadow.
I should get my full figures and hardcore anatomy studies going, hope to do some this weekend.

I've decided to try and participate in this week's CHOW.
I'm going for Poison Ivy, pretty much decided on this pose. I use a lot of reference for the pose from posemaniacs, it's kinda bad.
But the point for me is to see if I can finish a piece, from thumbnail->sketch->painting.
Not sure which direction I'm going with the style either. I'm not really happy with the face, think i got direction somewhat correct at least, and I have to get the hands and feet down.
There'll also be flowers and other Ivy-stuff. But now: sleep

Crits and suggestions needed on this, please point out all the flaws!

Hey Snake, thats a nice pose you have there for the poison ivy piece. It looks like the classic eight headed figure, with good opposing curves and a nice sense of rythm to it. The only thing i would suggest is to spice up the main action line a bit, it seems only very slightly curved at the mo, and a more pronounced curve would really bring this forwards. I hope your gonna keep progressing with this one, even if you miss the deadlines?

Anyways, keep posting dude ;-)

Thanks for the replies!
I haven't been totally slacking, even though I should've been a lot more busy.
Here's some sketches done @ work, I really need to work on my female faces.
Bad = no ref, better = ref, in most cases.

Here's some Vilppu-studies, it's real fun watching those dvds. A bit more inspiring than reading books, but I should put my teeth in Bridgman and stuff like that too.

dabbling with some colours in PS, from photoref, I'm a total noob at painting.
Don't really like how this came out, hard to put the lighting down. The ref was real moody :/

Found out the ref for the painting above was a default picture that comes with vista. shit sucks 8(

I've been lazy with the updates but not too lazy with the pen. Just have to scan and fix everything.
Here's a speedpainting in the mean time,:
Pretty happy with the colors.

C&C appreciated!
