Hey there, I'm China Rockett, I'm new, and I desperately need constructive feedback so I can avoid stagnation and the like.

Here's some recent work (and one or two not-so recent) to get this sketchbook off the ground. Prompts in the form of words or concepts would be appreciated along with critique, so I can try new subject matter, drawing from random words, and et cetera.

Long story short, I need to get my ass in gear!

First, a wolf dude I'm working on. Then, a little composition test thumbnail. One of my issues is that when I paint something (digitally or traditionally) it comes out looking stiff, and lacks a lot of movement from the sketch. Trying to fix that now.

Also I need more sophisticated paint programs (any reccomendations? I was thinking of Painter). All I work with now are openCanvas4 and ArtRage 2.5.

Sketch and final of latest teen challenge piece, a piece for the DSG, and an older piece from late 2007.

And a quickie of a character in a more human form.

Cool stuff Rockett! You have a very distinct style, I like the Owner of Shadows pic the best.

Dazz: Thanks! Glad to hear I have something of a cohesive style (I'm trying to refine it even so).

Here are some sketch concepts for an illustration I want to do based on Garth Nix's book Sabriel. I've been a huge fan for a long time, so I figured it's about time to try illustrating a scene featuring Sabriel herself.

Great digital work. I'm not big on the animal face/ man body thing. But the work is awsome regardless. I need to learn how to work photoshop better. Hey, stop by my page if you ever find time, thanks

A couple of your canine characters look familiar to me somehow. Overall, good work. I'm far from painting anything, so I can't really comment on your skill. :)

Sorry for the long pause this week! Here's some new stuff, though I have to continue working on other works in progress I've already posted.

First just some character studies for fun. The first a sort of golden lion tamarin/orangutan cross in the form of sass, the second an anthropomorphic Egyptian Mau. I enjoy their angular faces.

The last pictures are works in progress and then the final of my picture for the most recent Teen Challenge (go see the other amazing work in the LTS thread in the challenges forum!).
