When drawing with a ball point pen its easier to get out your ideas or is it just me? I don't know but I love drawing out ruff stuff useing ball point.

does enyone else find this to be the case.

for example below is a quick drawing of a future suite concept, and aside from some proportinal issues its a good start I think.

http://otherrealmcreations.250free.com/remotelinkpics/futuregirl.gif (http://otherrealmcreations.250free.com)

is working with grey scale felts kinda have the same fluid flow, I hope so cuz I've ordered some in well actually a whole set of prisma cool grey makers.
ummm well thats all for now any comments anybody?

....Hi JackSparrow,

I agree with you. I love sketching in biro/ball point pen. It's like pencil, you can control how light you press on the nib, and this makes for good shading. I'd attach a an example of mine, but I'm at work.. - and they've just taken my cpu away for repair! Oh shit....Well, when I can, I'll post summink...

Anyway i agree with your own crit (about the proportions) other than that...'is cool.
Once you get your grey felts, you'll work out the best way to use them..(I'd starting with light grey building up to dark...)

Keep at it mate!

Thanx Molly, I love pens for ruffing out ideas, and ya it kinda is like useing a pencil but the funny thing is I can't sketch as well with my pencil as I do with my pen wierd or what? oh well !. Thanx for the tips on the felt makers, I'm pumped to get them.

Totally agree with that! i love em. im a ballpoint junky. I have my brand even, Sanford Suregrip is my fav right now =)

With pen you arent constantly concerned with refining the image by erasing, so it loosens up your style alot and also makes you much more confident with your shapes. Kinda like running with ankle weights =P

JackSparrow
October 29th, 2003, 01:38 AM
lol ya no kiding '' ankle weights '' I love it.
ya thats exatly what I find your not really concerned with eraseing stuff so your free to just draw and enjoy.

a few more pens I did a while back well about a month ago.

My personal fav is the last one, the Alien design.
If any one else has pen sketches post them up here I'd love to see em'

btw
ChaosEidolon I just checked out your sketch book and your 3d area, man you've got the mad skills with pen, those are pen right? well in any case I love them. Very inspiring to look at now I must go and SKETCH MWAAA HAAA HA HA AH chof whoo ....

My ballpoint-pen-sketches always look better then those don with pencil.

Maybe it is because i know unconscious before I beginn, that every line will be unerasable.

i did these a few months back. just stumbled on them and figured i'd post them.

this first one was copied from a kent williams painting.
http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/penSK-01.jpg

the next one i did while watching the news on tv. I pulled out my time magazine and started sketching the political figures. there's Vladimir Putin, Dick Cheney, and the Chinese President whose name escapes me right now.

You'll have to excuse me, I'm new. I don't have a website to post all of my stuff on. These are NOT the ones I would have posted; however, these are the ONLY ones I have on the internet already.

I always draw in pen. Here's an example of what I do...

looks good every one, now my turn.

here is one part of a comic page, I used ball point, sharpie, and a white pen, no pencil was used nor ruler as you maybe able to tell. I winged the hole thing didnt know where I was going doing a panel at a time, so I never finished.
http://shekinah.orcon.net.nz/images/eellweb1.jpg
the next is straight ball point, just a sketch of a character that I did at work on break.

that is all:)
