Hello everyone. You'll have to forgive me, I'm rather new to this site and am still figuring out how to post things.
These are older works, but I just wanted to get my feet wet, you know? I'm on this site because I am looking for some good critique on artwork, and other art sites haven't provided me with that. I'm hoping some people will give me honest crit, because I need it....
Placing these in sketch book because of how old they are. I hope to upload some new stuff later this week

Your paintings are really nice, but you wanted a critique so here it is: you use too much black on your figures, this makes them look flat, instead you should use black just for specific parts only where there is absolutelly no light hiting such part.
I recommend you to study andrew loomis book called "succesfull drawing", since there it explains very well how to aply light and shadow to objects, and in this are i see you are a little weak, go to www.fineart.sk to get it.
Good luck!.

Ah, thank you! I've actually been trying to use more grays (grey) instead of black, or just the darker color of what I am working with. I'll have to look at that book, sounds like it would help a lot

You have potential, the wolf is really good, I say ditch the manga/anime look for a while, do some anathomy studies and keep painting n posting.

Er, that doesn't really help me much...
All references and artbooks I use are realistic, however, my style of wolf is in between cartoon and realistic so I'm working on humans in the same style to fit my wolves. I wouldn't call it anime or manga.... it's just semi-realism.
I'm kinda looking for more specific crit rather than just changing my style.

Drayok,
I really love the look and feel of your wolf picture. Using the darker colour of what you are working with seems right, or at least from what I've been reading (i.e., for flesh tones, using a darker red so as not to kill the life - depending on lighting of course.) Mind you, I'm no expert and I am still learning myself but sounds like you are on the right track. Keep learning and posting. :)

Ug, such old and bad proportions. But I realized what few pictures I threw up here were all darker so I wanted a lighter one....
Thanks for the suggestions so far. Hoping to get new work up, since these are from last year and I would rather just re-draw the picture rather than fix them... still looking for ideas on light and anatomy )though this is a wolf I'm working on people right now...)
It's difficult because I'm trying to get my humans to match my wolf style - a happy medium between realistic and somewhat... cartoon like...
