The cop car is in the back highlighting the scene with its headlights while the 2 robotic dogs try to take out the criminal. This isn't quite finished yet but I am leaving to go see the Dark Knight shortly.

[ MOD EDIT: Oh, it looks like I used the wrong url for this link. There were so many - I just used the wrong one. You can remedy this by inserting the correct url in this posting in place of the one that I used. Sorry about that. ]

Lord84bob edit, here is a smaller sample of a section I've put more work into. Still working on picture. imageshack compresses the jpg I think it is much darker here than in ps.

Doesn't fit the theme exactly, but I always get new ideas and want to start them before I lose them. Plus, working on the same thing for too long gets boring, lol.

I saw the image before butit was way to big, so I guess you provided a link instead. Just resize the image again to 800x600 or something and relink it.
As for goran, that is unbelievably good. I had a look at your site and your work is A class, just ashame most images are so small.

Nice work, goran, but I have one question: is the dog just posing there or is there a reason, why it's looking to a wall? It is a little confusing.
And you're right, takmask, it's nice to do something quickly (or... I wasn't very quick, but... You know what I mean).

---

For some time ago I noticed that I didn't sketch/draw enough, and luckily I found DSG - it's just what I need.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e30/banaanimuhennos/robottikoiraCA1.jpg

Let me explain a little about how it functions:
It has six legs, so that it can move and jump as well as possible. There are some air jet-things under it's foot, so that it can float. It can move on any surfaces, even on water. It can also switch the air jets from blow to sucking, and then it can climb vertical walls.
It's "mouth" and the tendrils in it are meant for catching the criminals. It can shoot those tendrils to the criminals, and then it can wrap the bad guys etc.
It's "tail" is an eye or a camera that let's it look behind it.
SP means security police.

I had some trouble with imageshack after I uploaded the picture it was way to big when I attempted to resize it using imageshack it failed to change the picture. I was heading out at the time to see the Dark Knight, which was a great movie, and didn't have a chance to fix the size. It was a little too rough a draft anyway I guess so If I can get around to finishing it I will. I'm trying to get into airbrushing and figured the idea of the daily sketch group would help me since I have trouble coming up with ideas.

Also in response to the MOD I am not a member of imageshack so I don't have a way of finding out the link I used to like to the image so for now I can't fix it until I upload a newer version so I will work on the picture a little first before I fix it. Thanks.

Well, I figured if I tried to make something all serious and cool my brain wouldn't cooperate so... tada~?

Btw, the ringmaster has a police badge on his top hat! Sorta. And I gave th' dog crazy eye stalks so it could see everywhere! Th' way I figure it, all th' robo-designers thought it sounded like a great idea! But when they actually made it... not so great. :P

goran: Oh, okay, looks I am pretty dumb when I'm tired. Sorry about that. Now it makes a lot more sense, when you explained it :]

spazizoner: Maybe it looks a bit rushed, but after all these are supposed to be sketches. And there's a lot of action in your picture, which is always a good thing.

bombchu: What a hilarious picture :D ! I'm thankful that your brain doesn't want to do anything serious. That picture will definitely put a smile on people's face.

so for my comments:
lord84bob: isnt that the thirs drawing I see in the same post :D
I like the robotic creature the rest is maybea bit too blurry.
takmask: Nice sketch, except for indeed the background which kinda is a shame. Just make it a bit more painterly to work together better with the drawing. (ps; i have the same problem, still not sure how to use my brushes properly).
goran: already said its awesome...no answer to that
mivva;: i like that you drew a sniff dog, rather then a combat dog. Though it kinda looks like it could fall appart pretty easily.
beelketh: sorry to say but that hand makes it look like he's a funny dog witha moustache :D
spazizoner: Good effort, one of the few drawings with an actual criminal
hamsta: again, dynamic and good angle. The guy looks like he's got diarhea though :D Makes escaping even more dangerous! :D
bombchu: what a surprising drawing for thsi tpoic. I like the use of white space. Your character pack a lot of character, did u draw that in illustrator, you mentioned last time you didnt know how to add texture. Did you ever export your illustrator drawing into photoshop and some layers of textures to it to make it more interesting?
arteater: When it comes to creatures you're up there with the best, excellent drawing! I peeked at it when I drew mine :)
Parsakoira: great moodsetting, though the way you divided his boddy makes him look like on of those anteaters. Actually I should get a good book on animal anatomy aswell, It's so complexx!

As for mine, it helped me a lot to look at what was posted on the site already. I think I'm quite happy with it, but somethings doesnt feel right.
Maybe too hectic in the end. Although I wanted to depeict a city in constant chaos, like these kind of gore raids are normal.

mivva and hamorage: Thanks to both of you :) I thought it might be too weird but... glad you find it funny! I'm thinking of cleaning at least one of the characters up and reposting... With no outlines :P Those are there 'cos I was too lazy to separate with color. But! I've been researching Illustrator tutorials like crazy and I've even found a way to put texture layers inside Illustrator :) We'll see how it goes!

If someone could tell me how to actually do the thank you thing at the bottom of your post I'd really appreciate it :) and then I would thank you.

Just a few short years from this situation! While Police Departments don't use armed robots, yet... US SOCOM is probably using them to clear caves and buildings... At the very least, robots are being used widely by both law enforcement and military for Explosive disposal, recon, and dropping off telephones to negotiate in crisis/standoff situations... I'm sure once it becomes cheaper than maintaining a K-9, police will go to something mechanical!

Edit: And now... It magically appeared! Maybe I had to make 10 posts? :)

hi guys, my first dsg, some really cool stuff here =)

the original plan was to do it tight but the tigher i tried to draw it the more i realized i hadnt figured out the form out in enough detail
that, and it was taking to long so i did a messier version.
i took a more skeleton like approach, and the head has a big gun on it =D

I kinda went with a less literal approach to this DSG. [though hopefully you can still see the resemblance to a dog of sorts]

the idea was that in the future, a large bipedal machine like would be used in vast areas of desert to find hiding fugitives by using an advanced radar utilizing sound and smell, like a giant robotic bloodhound.

It's StrobeDog2000, massproduced by Hindenburg Corp for the NYPD. It was put in service in 2026, dealing primarily with the Rhino Riots. With the elimination of all strain-B type mutants in 2030 the StrobeDog series soon became obsolete and was decommissioned a year after. A few custom units still remain in service for dealing with strain-D type mutants and the rise of the 3rd S'Blahergh Conclave.

PlasmaErnst- Wonderful! I really like the dog's heavy feel Though its face feels less robotic and more alien. Still, its awesome.

Goran- Fantastic coloring in your work. I wish I had more talent with digital painting to render works to that level.

Blaaargh. Well, back for my yearly post on CA.

90 minutes here, sorry it's not all...speed painterly or colorful. Yeah, I don't practice that much, so this is the best I could do in that span of time. Suck it.

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a266/Prinnyflute/robodawgcopy.jpg

A rising drug problem in future Japan greatly increases the danger of raids for puny human officers. Based loosely on the original "BIGDOG (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2bExqhhWRI), IINU features a multi-use material launcher in the nose of the front of the robot, enabling it to use compact smoke canisters, tranquilizers, or tazing pellets. The balance capabilities and faux muscle strength of these units makes tackles and kicks viable strategies in close combat.

ham- Some of the definition in this caught me off guard, lookin' pretty good. The structure of the torso/legs an' all looks a bit sketchy to me, though.
Prom- So...make me your apprentice. Now plz.

Hamorhage I find the dog disturbing. Jury's still out if that's good or bad.
Part of it is the way it's perfectly centered at us, the grill under the mouth that gives the appearance of another mouth, the wires sticking out of it's neck, and the skinny hindlegs.
As far as the rest of the scene goes, the perp seems to lie on his back, yet his hand is facing up... Am I just reading it wrong? hair and not throat?

I like the police car and all the atmospheric effects that come with it.
Same goes for the textures in the sky and the blimp (except for the propeller bit)

Snuggles Am I the "ham" you are referring to? :P
I think your design has potential, but needs some problem solving, like a better pose, in which it will look less like a mint green banana.
I like the muscle definition, but the robot parts need some work with the perspective

Snuggles Am I the "ham" you are referring to? :P

Actually I was referring to a guy just called Ham, further up on page 2. :O

Thanks for the comments though, made my day...literally. Haven't much felt like doing art lately, so...yeah!

Yeah, I admittedly didn't really have a design process for the thing, just...crapped it out. Maybe I'll do an actual, erm, design before I do today's DSG. ;)

I like yours, but I wish we got to see more of the robodogs in question! Lookin' forward to your next faithful entry. XD
