I would never guess that the colored work was done by the same artist as the b/w stuff.

my digital colouring is that bad huh, what can i say was trained as a bg layout artist for the animtion trade, a skill that is well on the downturn a bit of late so im of trying to learn new skills. so any pointers on how to emprove etc.

It isn't the coloring, it's the line work. There is a developed style in the b/w pieces that is absent in the color piece. Your coloring looks fine.

The 3 B/W renderings are great. I think the color piece is lacking a light source or light sources and highlights and shadows based on those light sources.

Hey!

I think what they´re trying to say is that your linework int he first pic makes it look cartoonish (whish is far from being a bad thing). The Elvish port is looking awesome, just love cityscapes, and the detail on the last one is impressive. looking for more from you! so post soon!;)

Cheers m8! :chug:

some very nice lines here! i think if you defined your lineweights some more, the pics'd have more depth.

Just a bit about the first coloured one... that roman guy in the center's hair is blonde and his skin very fair. Romans were from Italy... ethnically, italians tend to have dark hair. Every coloured work (mosaic, painting) I've seen done from that era and area, roman people have had dark hair and olive-toned skin. This guy actually looks more like the people he's conquering!

Unless this is a special case that I'm not aware of, where a Gaul or a member of the Germanic tribes came into roman society and rose up in the ranks of the army... I don't see how a high-ranking roman man would've been blonde.

Apart from that, everything seems pretty accurate, not to mention well drawn. Good show :)

Velo

thank you , im glad you like them, looked over your site, lovely stuff, cool banners by the way.

bgermain

i understand what you are getting at, i got paid today and have bought some new nibs to experiment with. should have result in a while i hope. also cool site, i love the teacher pic by the way, and the will do animation for food also. i think all animators do one of those at some point.

dfr98

i hear you , the piece needs some raw light not just a omni light source

Gezstar

thanks for the reply. im going to have a more careful look at my line work over the coming weeks. also i should have a copy of your comic soon. very cool stuff

Tully

yup your right , to much influence by Hollywood , , still Germanic tribes men did rise in the roman legion s, mostly as scouts or a local leaders of what was Rome’s aux forces

still if i remember correctly a German did rise to the senate in Augustus’s time. although the senate was but a puppet that acted like a local city council by that stage.

the elf port is ok or the temple as well,

but the inked ship is only for public viewing on forums etc. the book its going to be in is coming out soon, so when its out ill post alink. until then the ship cutaway is very much no colour zone. still two out of three ain’t bad. still experiment away, have fun

edit spelling
