Does anyone have any idea who the original artist of this is? It was used as a background on a website probably 5 years ago. I got in contact with the person who made the website who said he found it in an artbook and modified it but doesnt remember who drew it or the artbook he found it in since it was so long ago. I'm wondering if maybe its a famous drawing and will be easy to identify.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Don't bother looking for angels. It's a patent drawing, probably from a non-copyright Dover publication. Study the black image very carefully and you'll see obvious mechanical parts and other indications that it's a contraption for "one-man" flying. Probably late 19th century...

If it's not a "modern" patent drawing, it's an engraving made at the turn of the century of one of da Vinci's contraptions.

That's what is looks like to me, but I didn't know if this style was common for these type of drawings.
