sjuskadur: Thanks alot, man :D But I think I will leave the creature thingy like that, at least for the moment... i'm trying to focus mainly on the eyes and just blur the rest. But I did crop some parts of the fisrt pic and scaled him, for detail-sake. Thanks again :)
mysociallink1: Thank you too :D
dtran:Thanks man, that's what I was aiming for. :)

ForScience: Thanks :) Cool name :D
voraz: Thank you too :) That's what I'm always aiming for.
Now on the list: bad habbits an how do I get rid of them.. you may notice I preffer certain poses, certain colors. I also am fearfull of detail. But I feel i'm on the edge of a breakthrough, just need to push it a little more. :) Now to rid myself of those automaticisims ems ems ems :D
ditchman
July 17th, 2008, 06:15 AM
nice sketch book so far, a good way to push your self in different directions is to do studies of stuff you would never usually want to draw (like a bowl of fruit, who would actually want to draw a bowl of fruit?)
or a more interesting method is to try to illustrate random passages of text from books.

ditchman: Merci!:) The fruit thing... well, I've done some still life, and yeah, I learned stuff from that too, but yes, I need practice drawing alot of varied stuff, 'cause I maybe now like what I'm drawing, but I like drawing, so it's ok:D I have this goal of getting alot better 'til I turn 19. (I'm 18 now) The book thing... yeah, will really try my hand on some Dune and Sven Hassel characters. Great great great idea :D
Brun: Thank you, sir. :D Am also an admirirer of your work :D Those skateboard designs are WHACK :D
the ANGRY filipino: Thanks!:D Yes, nr 6 is one of my favs too in line quality and confidence and will be going in that direction for future quickies.. and you can crit me all you like, dude :) I lack in areas that you're good and maybe vice-versa :)
Aaaaaand tada :) here's a WIP for this week's CHOW (will be my first entry:D)... I don't want to be all that stereotypical "chain mail bikini" and huge boobs and stuff... she's just plain tough.. if some finds her masculinity sexual, fine by me :D But anywayz, here's todays pooh :)
Edit: if anyone wants me to put up my custom brushes, please say so :D I really dig the cloud one, if I can say so :bashful:

hey, just dropped by to say , love what your doing here, even though you are slacking. I don't know if you have any art studies, but you manage your color very good. The problems that need immediate attention are the stances, hard edges and composition. You need to observe how a animal/human stands on solid ground, that problem i observed on the #2 post, from there on , you avoided drawing any feet :). Composition , if you are going to draw from the waist down , you need to fit the feet in there somehow, because if you don't it looks bad to the viewer. And Hard edges , check your hard edges , some of your works , even if they are just sketches they seem to fade away , you don't want that , keep maximum detail on the focusing points ( like face or hands etc.) And loose detail towards the extremities, i think this technique is called clarobscuro , used by renaissance painters. Other then that, e bine sa mai auzi o voce familiara.
Salut & bafta
Timmy the Turtle
July 21st, 2008, 06:04 AM
Well, thanks for taking the time to help, flamable :D Sooo...
I have art studies, offcourse, I wouldn't dare try drawing the human form without any studies prior to that. I will put some studies as soon as I get a hold of my scanner again. I had 2 threads on CA, but I got embaressed with them and kinda "rebooted" myself 2 times. This time it actuallly worked. Slacking? I dunno...
Composition... hm, well I can draw feet (or at least I think so and am not afraid of drawing them anywayz), but it's more personal when a foreground character is visible from the waist up. When you're standing next to a person and look at their face, you can't really see their feet. But yes, you're right about being a bad habbit. I should pose characters in alot more varied ways.
Here's some studies: =D

Excellent start to a sketch book, Like the creature designs, my favourite image is actually the fly, there's something about flies ...lol anyway :D Yeah real good. Also the colours in the figures in what I guess is flame are spot on.
The man lifting something looks to have unequal sized arms, even if one is closer to the viewer than the other, I may be wrong ..keep it coming :D!

Really nice stuff! Your sketches from life are my favorites.
Have you tried painting with oils? You should. You should go take a life-painting class and just go wild. I think you'd go far with it.
Timmy the Turtle
August 5th, 2008, 08:07 AM
Thanks a lot, bluefooted. I haven't tried oils, no. But I shall. :D I mainly use gauche or acrylic, but oils would suit me best, I think. :D

August 5th, 2008, 05:08 PM
Your pencils are awesome. If you can push some texture into the paintovers and retain a bit of the grittiness of the pencils, you'll have some pretty amazing work. Definitely looking forward to seeing more from ya.

Wooo, I got 4 stars. Thanks, votin' people. Now to work my way to 5 :bashful:
Clochette: Thank you very very much! :)
sourgasm: Thanks alot, will definetly do that. I usualy tend to over-render some stuff, bleah. Edit: :)))) nice name!
And here's some more drawings. The scanned stuff is actually bigger 'cause I use a big-ass A3 sketchbook, and my scanner is an A4 =) So the posts are cropped. But not too much :) Aaaanyway..

New one is looking good. Her right arm is a bit funky, though. I'd look at the anatomy on that before rendering enough that it's a pain to fix.

Im still new to art but your sketches look great. Your last one of the girl is very well done. Your digital art however need's some work. You seem to have the same problem as myself. You have trouble blending the color's together. Work on that and your digital art will look amazing. This is from a new artist point of veiw.
