i have developed an interest after looking at video game concept art for a while
so much of an interest that i want to give it a try
i would mainly want to draw as a hobby, but at least be very good at it
i basically need some information on what tutorial videos i should be looking at, and other stuff.. i don't know a lot about drawing.. or anything really
also, i've heard people using tablets more than other methods at this point
im guessing it would be a good idea to start with pencil and paper, but would it hurt to go straight to tablet?

thank you

If you can't already draw a bit, yes.
You'll be spending a few hundred bucks then fighting an interface while learning to draw at the same time.
Digital art is always more complex than "point pencil at paper, inspect result"

If you're a total beginner it's mostly about mileage and you get a whole lot of pencils and paper for $20

Get Betty Edwards "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" from library, do exercises, ignore "science" parts.
Then, get the Loomis books and work through them..

By all means get a tablet and play with, say, Artrage
http://www.ambientdesign.com/artrage.html or any other software but until you can do it with a pencil or a hairy stick smeared in mud you likely won't get much benefit from the digital tools, at least as far as learning the basics goes

/noob 2p worth.
