I'm literally obsessed with becoming better at drawing, and to become as good as many of you are here, lol.

With that, I guess I should post up some of my work. Some are Design projects, but right now I've been concentrating on learning Anatomy and how to draw the body. (The picture quality really sucks, if anyone has some info on how to get really clean pictures, please share.)

It starts with still lifes and casts, then some Design projects (one of them being a self-portrait). (I'll have to scan my new sketch book to post later.) Sorry if the photo quality sucks.

-Crits are welcome.

About 80% of these are from my imagination, I haven't done much life drawing on my own. There are a few here that are drawn from a book or picture...as you can tell, I like gaming and especially Warhammer. :)

Just a gesture like sketch

This was an excercise from my Drawing instructor, from my book.

I'm trying to keep these in chronological order. They start from about January 2008 -> untill yesterday.

Here are the last few recent ones, the next posts will be fresh sketches. I'm still working on that Anatomy, I'm going to buy a book today or tomorrow to trace and draw from.

hey, thanks for the post in my sb. well, ncie going with your sb. good start.

well, time for some tips :)

LIFE DRAWING!!!!!!! :P

you could focus on a couple of things, wich are very important:

-anatomy. just learn where waht muscles/bones go. i should not start with this

-perspective/drawing geometric shapes+shading geometric stuff. i would start focussing on this for sure ;)

-life drawing (always do as much of this as you can)

antoher important things to know:

*IMPORTANT*
-when drawing anything, think of it as a VOLUME. so, what do i mean with volume? well, when drawing anything, for example a human body, dont draw a contour LINE of the figure. instead, you should realise what VOLUMES the human body has. when drawing an arm, for example, draw one line of the side of the arm. then the other line on the other side of the arm. then move to the next volume. draw the lines BETWEEN THE VOLUME. prime volumes of the human body is: the head, torso, pelvis, upperarms, lowerarms, hand (with all little volumes),upper leg, lowerleg, feet (with many little volumes)

so, try to communicate as much volumes as possible with as less possible lines.

-learn to draw from the SHOULDER. this way you can make these very broad and nice strokes.

-draw from life/photo.

-dont concentrate on materials. just anything will do ;) dont concentrate on digital in the beginning.

i think im all out of tips at the moment.... hehe

good luck mate

PS. do much life drawing

No models available so I used Google Images today to practice facial features.

I did a quick 30 second skin tone over it just for fun.

Hi again everyone, although I haven't posted I've been drawing everyday out of the online version of Andrew Loomis' anatomy book. I hit a page in the book that I don't quite understand. It's page 30 of Figure Drawing for All its Worth, he is trying to explain how to convert the Flat Diagram into perspective. Heres a link to the online page (http://www.fineart.sk/show.php?w=900)

I've read the comments off to the side and I don't get how he is using the diagnals to form a new flat diagram. How do we know what the first measurement is? How do you find all of those measurement points (A,D,E,H,I,J,K,etc...)

Some help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow really good Inking and I'm really loving the studies.

I hadn't seen the Loomis book before, but I'm glad you posted it there, I think that I'm going to check it out and start studying it, looks interesting!

And I'm honestly not much of a critic, considering your stuff is pretty good, but like someone here said life drawing is probably the best thing (though I'm sadly not a fervent follower of this) and if you can't do that, try what I do, which might not be the best but at least works for me, which is either take pictures or bring objects you can copy near your computer and draw away, in my opinion, drawing from pictures isn't such a bad idea, however, a lot of people in here consider it to be a hinder, but oh wells!

Anyways, great stuff, keep 'em coming.

I looked at his website and he has some amazing stuff but his DVD's and Lessons are a bit out of reach financially. I'll have to check his work out when I can though, he seems like he really impacted you in an awesome way.
