I'm curious to see how they portray that. I don't recall seeing winged creatures in the original game...

Maybe it is his guardian angel. There were quite many situations where it would be almost impossible to survive in Max Payne. Also the angel looks a bit like him I guess....just all black. I like the strong surrealistic approach in the trailer....I hope they don` t f*ck it all up.

I don't know... Marky Mark isn't really Max Payne to me. A friend who is a movie lover also told me that he heard it's gonna be G rated, therefore not a single drop of blood in it. Don't know if that's true but if it is it's gonna be REALLY weird...

I thinking the angels may be intended to be valkyries, given the games' references to them and other elements of Norse mythology. Just a guess though.

That could be, good point. although we saw very brief shots of them. At least they didn't go whereas not to show them and let us into theaters and find out there where scenes with winged people and be like "wtf?!"
Although, I think it'll work out alright.

Ah , okay that might come closer than my guess. I forgot that the drug was called Valkyrie.
I wonder what the story will be like...smells like a mixture between the first and second game.

Does it really matter? He'll lose his family and seek revenge. Then he'll muckrake and be chased :D Also about the angels: They might be different from the more irrational stuff we saw in the games, but still it fits the topic.

I just hope they don` t screw up the acting....This guy (I always forget his name) playing Max doesn` t seem to be the best choice =/

Love it. I like the way they went with it, because my first thought about how they were going to film this was like that of Sin City. Mark looks like Max Payne, but he should have smoked a lot of cigarette's in his time to get the voice right. ;)

Interesting. I think Mark would be up to it, think he'd make a good Max. What I find concerning is the slant the movie seems to be taking ... Max Payne was a very subtle game, its sequel even more so, and whilst the trailer is more subtle than the game, it ain't no subtle trailer. As a game it's action, but as a story, it's a tragedy.
I hope they don't look to the usual action films for inspiration, but to films like History of Violence and No Country for Old Men - the action, especially with Max Payne, sould be secondary to the narrative.
I guess I'm skeptical because John Moore is directing ... if he fucks this up he's fucked up the most doable and easiest game-inspired film ever.

Oh shit ... they've cast rapper Ludacris as Jim Bravura??!?!?!? Ludacris - hip-hop rap star? Jim Bravura - hard-ass New Yorker old timer? :wtf:

Not only that, he doesn't seem to have clue what the film is really about:
It's about how the Russian mob came to Europe and took over
oh man, this is off to a worse start than apollo 1 ...

Found this in the comments on the article =
And guys, it's not Luda's fault for: "It's about how the Russian mob came to Europe and took over."
The writer of this article got the quote wrong, he was talking about the Guy Richie film he's in, RocknRolla

Still… Ludacris. Bravura. Doesn't work. Let's just hope they don't go too teeny with the rest of the movie.

Promising! I didn't know they were making a movie, so thanks for the link. The game has always read like a movie to me, though, so I figured it was destined to be filmed eventually.
I agree with Brendan about the trailer being too intense, I was expecting something a little more low-key. But then again, that could just be a marketing 'mistake' (not sure if it's intentional or not). Something that looks like Sin City probably attracts more youngsters than something in the spirit of No Country.
One case on top of my head, anyone seen the movie In Bruges? It's a very subtle, tragic, black-humoured film, I enjoyed it immensely. But the trailer? It made it seem like a fast and hugely stylized comedy in the spirit of Snatch. So don't judge the film by its trailer just yet!
