Hello. I am new to the forum here. I have been a long time viewer and finally got the guts to get my artwork critiqued. Anything that I can come away with from your comments is greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm just emerging out of lurker status myself. :)

I like the mood you have here and I can almost feel the heatwaves hitting my face! But the composition and depth could use some adjustments I think. I think it would look better if the gunman's head were not so dead center in front of that entryway. Also the flames could do with a little more variety of shape and size. Also some more distinctive cast shadows could really make this scene come alive.

I agree with what wyecliffart said. For my own part, I wish I could see what was going on with that temple. Detail-wise. You've made a great opportunity with pediment and/or frieze sculpture added for detail. That could pump a lot of interest to it. Like you could stare at it for a long while and still not see everything. And (oh, how art history prof is gonna love me for this) it really looks more *roman* than greek Sorry, I couldn't resist. :D

In any case, it has the making of a really quality painting here. Remember not to go to heavy on the dodging/burning. It's tempting, but you'll end up with a much better result if you use them sparingly.
