Hey everyone! alright here's another assignment that I'm working on.

Assignment: make a walk cycle

I decided that a walk cycle would probably be a little too dull to have it included on my demo reel so I thought I'd do a run cycle that goes into a walk and back into a run.

The idea is to have the person running, see a cop (or a "no running" sign) and slow down to a walk. Once he walks past he turns his head to look back at the cop, turns forward again and continues running.

I was thinking i'd aim his head at a locator and move the locator around to control his head but as soon as I did so, my whole animation got all screwy. I think it was cuz I have an animation clip in the trax editor to control the character's body and when I added the locator to control the head of the character, it somehow conflicted with the animation clip in the trax editor.

ANY IDEAS HOW TO FIX THIS? OR ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO CONTROL HIS HEAD?

Anyhow, thanks for reading.... and hope to here lots O feedback
here's the first draft.... please feel free to tare it up! thx! ;) (the head is not animated yet)

Looking good. I am a little concerned about hot much he is throwing his head around, it seems like he would have alot of trouble seeing where he was going. Maybe if you moved the head, but kept it facing where he was going I would like it a bit more. Also, on the walk, when his hand just starts to move back, it jerks very quickly. Maybe try to smooth out the hand coming back.

Your animations look great, I look forward to what you will come up with next.

overall, its a little jerky. maybe stretching out the space between all of the key frames. slow it down a little bit. iunno. it just has a jerky feel.

the transition from run to walk is very very abrubt. if he stopped that fast, he would almost have to fall forward right on his face. perhaps that can be lengthened.

the walk looks pretty nice except for his feet. when the leg comes forward and the heel of his feet touch the ground, his toes SNAP down to the ground very quickly. i think adding a little bit more space between those 2 keys would help things.

yes, peoples feet snap down like that, but not that fast.

looks pretty nice! cant wait to see a resubmit!
