Is it possible to mix goauche and acrylic? I just started using gouache, I love it, but it only comes in tiny tubes and I'm already running out of white (though not of other colors)...would there be any problems if I bought a huge tube of white acrylic to mix with the gouache? I know they have a different binder but would that be that big of a deal? Any responses greatly appreciated.

The two mediums will mix together, but it's how they dry that may cause some issues. Gouache doesn't adhere well to dried acrylic paint; it just sort of slides around. Acrylic over gouache is okay, however. Since acrylic dries permanent, some parts of your painting will be insoluble in water, and others won't, so mixing and blending might be difficult at times, depending on where you've used acrylic.

Not all of the brands come in small sizes. DaVinci sells larger size gouache tubes (37ml) and it's a decent brand. Holbein sells their white and black artists gouache in 40ml tubes.

Winsor and Newton make a big jar of Perm white and zinc white.

You can get gouache ground in acrylic resin, Turner is the only brand I have used, but Holbein make one too. It dries matte too which is good.
