I'd love to do this DSG, but what is trophy skin? Like gold painted skin or what?

Lost in deep thought, Jonas did not notice he had company until the clear mountain breeze brought with it the smell of mangy fur, urine and blood.
He felt his heart begin to race at an insane pace. This was it. He carefully reached out for his revolver...

Hi guys. This is my first attempt at a DSG drawing. In fact this is my first finished colour digital sketch/painting. It took about 3 hours - is that too long?

I started drawing and totally forgot about the trophy skin detail. Probably because it's 1 AM and I'm practically asleep. I fail.

haha, it threw me for a loop too at first. A trophy skin is the skin of the animal that was hunted and kept as a sort of trophy of the kill, much like the deer heads that stereotypical hunters mount and put on their mantle.

Fun Fact: over in Europe they get some big bunnies. http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/giantrabbit.asp

Arteater: love the perspective. Right now it reads a bit like the rabbit is running in front of the guy rather than above the guy. Showing more ground + shadow might help clarify things.

Deon: That's really cute and scary :P Love the story book style. The rabbit's expression is priceless.

This is a bunny who's about to go up against a hunter who wears the skins of his prey as trophies. I couldn't color it because i don't have a tablet. Since i'm only a beginner, I'm welcome to any critique. Thanks.

okay some thoughts on the work if anybody wants to know.

xenoxr: that rabbit looks like one mean rabbit, almost looks like he deserves to die lol
plasmaersnt: what a drama..haha, I really thought the subject was lightheaded.
erniestthings: seems like an unfair fight...
gorgeleon: nice srory telling going on in the image, great use of light.
arteater: lol, that's by far the funniest picture. great skill too!
JTD: first poster too! Hey me too ! Anyway love the dramatic angle and almost godlike depicting of that showdown.
Deon: 3 hours? nah not long, you look like you've beend rawing rabbits your whole life :D
idiot-monarch: Simple but quite dramatic, nice layout.
xezor1234: awesome mood! how quick did you do that? thats amazing!
nightblue: love that picture, I love the colors you used, very cheerfull.
adonified: funny, I drew boxers too :D You should probably try to add some kind of background or at least a shadow. Looks like they're flying at the moment.
prepsage: okay..sketch?? dang man thats so nice looking. I figure you're a master of figure drawing!
Tommoy:Probably my favourite, because of the nice angle you choose, but looking at it longer I realised the perspective of the buildings is off. they make the man look like he's 200 meters tall :D
hamsta: nice and sweet, love that everything happens in the bottum half of the picture.

As if beeing hunted through some creepy twilighted playboy mansion by a homicidal maniac wasn´t enough, this total loon added to her terror by constantly going: "Shhhhhh. Im hunting wabbits."
She swore that she´d never work as a Playboy Bunny again should she survive this.

I constantely had something with sluggy freelance´s "BunBun" in my mind but somehow this happened instead. Go over to www.sluggy.com and check out how BunBun killed the easter Bunny and went for Santa Claus afterwards. Meanest Bunny with a switchblade EVER.

Unfortunately, the only fantasy element (and it might not be fantasy...) is the hare knowing what the trap is... Drawn with no reference, which is why the marten looks kind of like a cross between a dog and ferret if you squint hard enough... Venturing into Painter Essentials 3 territory...

Hamorhage Welcome aboard.
I like the guy, good sense of action, good anatomy and a fun design, with the bunny tail and the skin of the rabbit looking like it's hanging on for dear life contrasting with the strong facial features.

The bunny needs some work though, it just doesn't look right anatomically.

I was supposed to get this in earlier this week sometime. If there's a rule against already copyrighted characters, I apologize. Honestly, I couldn't help but do this when I read the topic. I was so high in enthusiasm, and I didn't remember reading any rules against using pre-made characters. However I also admit that at the last minute - when I completed the piece - I suddenly realized "concept" meant creating concept characters, not using pre-made ones. I apologize... If you know the characters I have used here, you will understand the joke. Usagi Miyamoto © Stan Sakai and Groo the Wanderer © Sergio Aragonés. Used under the non-profit section of the copyright law (or whatever it's called; it's why fan artists can make this stuff without getting sued) and without permission (if I knew them, I would have asked).

This was created as part of a college class assignment at Forsyth Technical Community College concerning cross lighting, the assignment being complete only when posted to conceptart.org's DSG. Please critique heavily, and without mercy.

Don't know how to use the thank option. I like Dr.Polygon's humorous entry quite well, and not because he's my professor. It feels like a strange marriage between Usagi Miyamoto and Tiny Toon Adventures. I like.

Ok, so you want critique, here we go:
To be honest your lineart seems good but your coloring needs work. first you draw in a very cartoony style, which would suite cellshading very well oposed to using the airbrush. Actually there's some really nice parts like the trees and mountains on the left, that works very well. Overall I think you darkened the drawing too much, I can barely still make out the lineart. I think if you would've left his eyes completely white it would look better.
Then you have two lightsources in the drawing which is good, but each lightsource has it's own color. The warm fire and the cold blue moonlight, so on the side of the moon you should've put some blue tone in the colors. The moon is further away though so the light would be less harsh then on the side of the fire, which you captured quite well. besides that I wonder why you shaded the textballoon, I wouldn't.
Anyway, it's a good effort, just try to join the sketch group every time and work on your coloring and you'll soon see great improvement. We're all learning here and gladly help
