My sister showed me this site several weeks ago and I'v been trying to pluck up enough gut to post my art.
I have just recently gotten back into drawing since my 3 kids are getting bigger and I have the opportunity to stay home with them. So it's back to reteaching myself how to draw and to try and get better at it.

Golden words of wisdom are most welcome!

This one was the only piece of bristol paper I had in the house and before I started drawing a box to work in. I have a very bad habit of working right to the edge of the paper. I ended up getting her eyes a bit to close together giving her a cross eyed look I did fix it before I sprayed the piece with fixer, just haven't retaken the picture of it yet.

I also use a .05 Technical pencil, French smudge stick and kneed-able eraser.

Please excuse me and my watermarks, I'm a little paranoid about my work being online, granted I have less of a chance than most of the artists here of their work getting ripped, but I know so many artist friends who have had this problem. I don't have my own website yet so all of my work is on deviantart.

But here is a piece I really messed up and didn't find the problem till after the piece was finished and I pulled it off of the art table. Her face is to long, Still I didn't have the heart to erase it and start over. It ended up looking like my husbands grandmother when she was younger so I opted to leave it. I ended up doing 2 piece with my art table completely flat due to getting things moved in to the room which was the main problem. I have since tipped it up as far as it will go and it has helped.

I finished this one last year, at least it looks finished to me lol. My husband bought me a inutos 3 wacom tablet for Christmas so I also have a color version as well. I'm still learning how to use and manipulate layers.

I'm still currently working on this piece, still a few tweaks on the front sail and on the ropes. I have a feeling that somethings will shift around a bit, but I'm realy looking forward to painting on this one. :D

Hi there. I came here after seeing you appearing in my page. It's rare to see pure traditional artist doing traditional stuffs nowaday, and it's always good to see one after looked through piles of digital works. Regardless, here what I think : You have skill good enough in stationary poses, and I especially like the first one. However it seems you face difficulties when it comes to motion (the last one). The eyes and muscle all look good and natural in still images but somehow not when it comes with motion. Personally I believe you're works are already good, but you'll be able to make amazing works if you can master the motion part, and I'm look forward to see that.

Very impressive work you got so far!!!! Really like the way you draw with just variations on the greyscale, I've been trying to improve that myself.
Just a small word of advice: the eyes seem to be placed to high in a couple of your drawings, maybe on purpose?, It makes there noses look really long. great work keep drawing!!

LOL me too! :D She seemed to have really good flow up until I loaded her down with equipment and planted her feet on a box and cannon. And trying to get a since of motion along with a slight pause to take on whom ever she is facing has me a little boggled. I have her in Works In Progress thread as well. Thanks! yeah I seem to have that problem a lot. but trying to work on it. :)

You have very good craft. I like the tonal variations and the almost photorealistic quality. You should focus on loosening up some more though. Try to express the forms and the 3d quality of the figures with just lines. In any case, good work and keep to it!

not so traditional in this piece all done in CS2 using intuos 3 wacom. But it is for a larger project in the next few months.
