I am on medication called Gabapentin and that does help alot but i want my migraine to be cured completed. Also it could be food that trigger's it off or strong smell.

There are many different triggers for migraines, everyone is different. Mine are hormonal and cheap white wine – the menopause and champagne is all I can look forward to. I found that the tablets weren’t much cop as I couldn’t keep them down. I take a hot bath (as hot as I can bear) and soak my head, floating a bit away from the end – I can even sleep like that. It’s waking up when the water is stone cold and my body turning into a prune is the only down side.

As far as I know they can't be cured completely, period. Mine are hereditary and have absolutely no trigger, they just happen when they want to. Sleep is the only thing that seems to help.

my wife used to take a pill right at the onset that would prevent it from really getting started. She doesn't take it anymore, though. Don't know why, she'd just rather have her migraine and lay in bed a few hours.
Main advice: talk to your doctor. If you don't like the result, go again, or talk to another doctor.

Mine are hereditary as well so they can be triggered by certain things and also be completely random. Sometimes they can be triggered by loud noises (parties e.g.), particular foods (like sugar) and stress is also a huge trigger.
To me it helps taking a long hot bath, drink something warm (preferably tea), draw or watch a movie to take my mind off it, and if everything else fails, sleep is the only thing that works for me.
edit: I have tried migraine pills etc. but due to my medical history medication has extremely little effect on me, so I've just had to figure out traditional ways to lessen the pain when it happens :/

The aftermath of stress can trigger one as well with me. The dip in adrenaline is wicked. They also get less severe as you get older.

Cut out sugar and sugar substitutes. You want to stick to glucose (honey) and fructose (fruits and veggies). Take some multivitamins and make sure you're drinking plenty of water. Get as much sleep as possible. Start doing a little low impact exercise. Walk everyday, stretch, ride a bike, etc. Get your eyes checked, make sure its not you're not straining to see things. Start taking more breaks and time to relax if you have a stressful life. Cut out caffeine as well.

simply changing the way you think, relaxing, meditation, a little exercise, letting things not get to you, and keeping stress and anxiety low...has had excellent results for me. of course this doesnt work 100%, for the rest - if you can afford it, imitrex (kills it at the onset or after youve got one)

Sometimes when i enter trance and see visions of foresight, the onset of the incalculable outcomes of chance: what has happened, what is happening, and what is to be. Seeing across time and space; peering into the infinite, ever changing vortex of outcomes from the very breath of a flea or a grain of sand fallen from the hair of a mouse. Watching as even the smallest events shatter and rip their way across the endless river of time and space, seeing all that is, and is to be...all of that gives me a headache sometimes. Usually a glass of water makes me feel better.

I get migraines when I eat less than healthily, get up after 11am, don't exercise and drink more than one cup of coffee a day.
If you're alert, you start to notice what triggers even the "eugh" feeling that comes with a migraine.

I used to get migraines a lot from arguing. When I was in high school, I used to take naps almost regularly because the headaches from arguing with my Mom would force me into energy deprivation.
Notice what triggers these migraines and try to eliminate the problem, or gain control over it. Maybe meditation or a better exercise regiment and healthier diet. Could even be the time you spend staring at the screen and your proximity.
It's always better to find the pathogen for what ales you, rather than using simple alleviations with medication, alcohol, or other forms of altering your state with external chemicals.

My husband has migraines that are triggered by msg, stress, and changes in barometric pressure (i.e. when storms roll in). He can stop a migraine from getting going by taking caffiene or Excedrin.
My mother gets migraines from driving through the shadows of trees on sunny days in the winter, which causes the light to strobe. And it is only when the light hits her left eye.
There is no single magic cure for migraines, I'm afraid. But if you can identify your triggers, you will be able to better control your migraines. Be sure to look for causes beyond just food.

A co-worker once pulled out his inner teeth (the two teeth furthest back) and that cured his migrane.

There is a lot of useful information in wikipedia. I just got a migraine 2 days ago. I think I've gotten perhaps 2 or 3 in my life, but this one was pretty bad. It seemed like a normal headache to start with. I went to lay in the sun (probably not the best thing) and from there on it just got worse. I only took Tylenol and Advil and tried to wait it out with a cold hand towel on the back of my neck.
I suffer from a severe case of TMJ (Temporal mandibular Joint disorder) which causes the initial headaches and I think the TMJ only worsened the migraine. Loud talking and noises as well as bright light were causing me to become more nauseous. Even laying down in bed or sitting up in bed (if my head touched anything) was making me feel worse. In the end, I sat upright in a seat next to the bathroom gagging and keeping my eyes closed most of the time. It lasted about 4 hours until I could finally lay down and slept for about 2 hours until it fully went away.

The main trigger of my migraines is excessive sun/heat. It's very annoying, considering I live in a tropical country. :sungod:
But they decreased A LOT when I started to take Ginkgo Biloba for my attention disorders three months ago.

The first and only time I had a migraine was in the middle of school. I thought I was stroking out. Weird.

I recommend seeing both a doctor and dentist. My migraines were triggered from my wisdom teeth and, until I got those removed, I went several years getting slammed with extremely painful migraines. There were days I'd wake up feeling like my head had a railroad spike nailed through the back of my head down to my jawline. As I recall, those days were quite unproductive despite going to work anyway. :P

Wow! How old are you? My wisdom teeth came in over 9 years ago. That sucked. It jacked the bottom of my grill up. Make sure to take care of that asap when/if it happens.
Did you ever find out what usually happens, what you do, or things you ingest before the migraines start? You might just need a hiatus from everything, man.

Feverfew, the herb, eaten daily between 2 pieces of bread is supposed to prevent migraines.
Tastes absolutely disgusting, though

Augering is a technique used to alleviate Intercranial pressure, which has been known to cure some people completely. Bad news is, they don't perform the surgery in the USA.
