I don't believe anyone knows me on this board but I'm a long time lurker in need of some guidance from the CA artists (which I have quite a lot of respect for BTW).
I am at a very interesting time in my life....I am a couple months away from finishing a BS in Digital Media from ETSU (http://www.etsu.edu). I've enjoyed my time there for the most part and worked hard. I feel like I missed out on the fine art education I really need though. I have been pursuing a dream of working as a modeler/texture artist in the Video Games industry for a couple of years now and I think I'm on my way.
Here's where it gets tricky. I'd really like to pursue a degree in illustration to fill in my artistic gaps and open up more artistic possibilities beyond Video Games. A 2 year AA or an equivalent is preferrable (as I've already spent a good amount of time in school already!). But I am going to be a new father of twins in February! If I go back to school I have to be able to really justify it!
My main goal is to develop as an artist. I may not want to work in games for the rest of my life, although i definitely want to be involved in art. I also don't think a piece paper qualifies you to do anything. Its what you REALLY learned.
So all that being said please take a look at my website as it stands (work in progress BTW) www.myartiscool.com (http://www.myartiscool.com)
I would appreciate feedback as to whether I should say "screw school!" and try to work and feed my family, or take the hit, stay on food stamps and go back to school.
Schools I am considering include: Ringling (cons: expensive...4 year - Pros: awesome school!), Academy of Art San Fran (cons: expensive - pros: 2 year), and The Portfolio Center in Atlanta (cons: don't know much about it - pros:cheaper, 2 year)

Thanks a lot! Cheers! :chug:

well... was my question too generic then? Or maybe too specific...
