I hardly ever have used colors in my life but now it's something I'd really like to learn well and incorporate in my artworks. Which color theory books would you recommend? Do most people nowadays color digitally instead of traditionally? What are some programs that they use? For traditional, where does one get colored lead for leadholders? I went to several art stores in NYC and they seemed to have no clue what I was talking about.

Hi, I'm not a professional or anything, but I have done some research on things of this nature.
-As for books, I personally haven't found one yet, but I do recommend the Color and Light Theory DVD from Workshop. Very helpful.
-It seems that art is going more digital, due to the fast pace of electric media, such as TV, movies, games, etc. It is a faster medium. Less expensive, and can produce so much more in a small amount of time. Its not that traditional is a bad thing, its that its hard to keep up in a fast society.
-A couple programs people use are the famous Photoshop and Corel Painter. Then theres ArtRage, GIMP(Mac), OpenCanvas, and many others.
-I can't seem to answer the lead holders question since I never tried to get them. But a good question. Haha.

GIMP(Mac)
I recommend removing the (Mac) it works on all platforms, but it's pretty much built for Linux.
I just use digital because it's easier to fix mistakes, and when I'm feeling too darn lazy to lay out my palette.

I found the colored lead, at Pearl Paint on Canal Street (NYC). They only had a pack of 12 though so I had to pay $10, when I only wanted one lead! Also they only had red (was hoping they had blue, or more colors as well).
