Hey guys, I need some help with something--
I'm getting together with some artists I know and renting an art studio in Brooklyn. It's in a converted warehouse, and it's an awesome building because there are a bunch of other comic and animation artists renting spaces there as well, so it's got a great atmosphere.
It's a big room, and I want to get a bunch of artists in there to keep the rent cheap. Unfortunately, now that the lease is signed and everything, and we're ready to move in, there have been a couple of people who dropped out, so we're looking to fill a few spots.

So if any of you live in the area and might be interested in working in a space with a bunch of other artists rather than all alone in the attic, or wherever, pm and we can try to figure some stuff out.

Note: This is not a job, paid or unpaid. It's simply a space to work in with other artists. However being with other freelancers there is quite a possibility that there will be opportunities to learn about paying jobs, meeting new potential clients and maybe even being recommended for jobs that other people in the studio have to turn down if they're too busy.

So anyway, if you're interested, PM me here, or send me an e-mail at wreillybrown@yahoo.com

Edit:::
Okay, here's the deal, we're meeting at the studio on Sunday at Noon, and I'll be there till 3:00. It's located at 112 2nd avenue on the corner of 10th street (in Gowanus, Brooklyn....F/G train to Smith & 9th street stop).
The rent will be about $150 a month (might change depending on how many people are interested), no utilities except for internet which will be about $10 a month (maybe less, they're hooking up a new system now, so I don't know the whole deal).
My phone number is 973-699-3161. Get in touch with me if you have any questions.

Come check it out and see if it's something that you're interested in!

Where in Brooklyn?

I know quite a few artists around the area.
I'll send them a link to this.

It's in Red Hook (I think?). On 9th and Smith. Right underneath the F train.

Hmm, Sorry, I don't have any pictures. There's nothing to take a picture of, really. It's just a big room, and currently it's pretty much empty. I'll be there on Sunday to show it to people who might be interested, so I'll take some pics then.

If I lived in Brooklyn, I'd jump on it. Hope you find your mates. By an chance would you be sharing studio space with Danimation?

Well, Dave. If you would get your tiney hiney down to NYC where all the cool kids play, maybe you could get in on the fun. ;)

I live in Brooklyn! :) So is it mainly professional artists, or could it be people who aren't that good yet? What exactly would we be doing there?

The more things change, the more they stay the same. This is how the old studio system worked when I first started.

Shared space. One name on the lease that everybody trusted. Everybody shared expenses. The great advantage was the "Client Rush." Every time a client asked if your operation was big enough to handle his project, you nodded yes, then ran back and "hired" everybody. Every freelancer in the building suddenly found a reason to be in your immediate vicinity and ask you important "questions" on some project or other. I "worked" for 19 different companies in three days, and for ten minutes one day, had 23 employees (one was a pizza delivery guy)...heeheehee...

What you would be doing there is working on your own projects, FlameDragon. Nobody would owe you anything except the space you're helping pay for. This is a serious commitment. If you're interested, you're agreeing to make sure the rent gets paid for EVERYBODY by guaranteeing your share. In return, you make friends, see how things work, learn different approaches, and might even be able to make a few bucks helping someone else out if they need it.
