Hi, im new to these forums, i just googled an art forum because this question has been bugging me for as long as i can remember

Im 14 years old, ive been devoted to drawing and sketching for as long as i can remeber, ive been 95% self taught, i decided to try an art course one day and i guess it wasnt at my level, but what the teacher did tell me is that when i try to trace over my starting sketch for an outline, i use the same method as the started sketch, im really not sure how to explain it, i cant draw a curved or straight line without continously tracing over it every step of the way so its a bit bigger in width but seems straighter than a thinner but a bit more crooked line, i think thats how id explain it. He called it staccado

you can see some of my stuff here: http://abyssal-spawn.deviantart.com/gallery/ i dont update DA very much, so most of them are a little old and not much work is on it, i mostly just post my stuff on facebook for friends to see =p

But anyway, please if anyone knows if its an actual issue or if its just a complex im building in my head, if it is an issue does anyone know any tutorials or practises i can use to help it?

edit: i just looked over the art i posted and it is pretty old and, well, horrible lol, ive worked on my anatomy so its not half as atrocious as that, im still looking through tutorials and studying anatomy and such, same for shading, im mostly working on photoshop sketching now that i got my pen tablet though.
Thank you!

Are you asking about how to draw continuous lines without making them "crooked"? That comes with practice and confidence. If you want exercises then check out assignment #1 in this thread (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=116199) and do that regularly as a "warm-up" exercise before drawing.

And welcome to ca.org.

For fourteen your work looks absolutely fine, you're making an issue where none exists.
Keep drawing, have fun, play around with Photoshop and your tablet but don't ignore pencil & paper.

And it's staccato.
