This is actually pretty good for a first attempt at mouse painting. I like the lighting on the guy's face, and his posture is telling. I also like the colors, looks almost like traditional watercolors. Clean up the guy a bit and I think he'll be good.
The one thing that bugs me is the moon. At first I thought he was carrying it on his back because it is so 3D and the craters are so deep. When objects get further away they lose a lot of their dimension, so to get the sort of effect you're showing the moon would have to be hit by meteors big enough to destroy it. You might want to redo it and focus on just having a circular shape with some mottling to indicate craters, and a much sharper falloff in the shadow. Another thing might be to center the moon and the guy just to get a bit better composition. At the moment it seems a bit confusing, but it's not too big of an issue because it's such a small scene.
Anyway, keep it up. With a bit more work this could turn into something really cool.
