hey yo's... ive been cruisin the forums here for about 2 weeks, and i thought to myself...

"what the hell... lets post something"

so i got out my sketch book after work and spent about 20 minutes on this drawing.... and it seriously shows... lol

i wanted to get the motion right so i drew a pre-scetch to go off of....
(he is reaching into his left pocket for a clip)

i dont know... i have only been seriously drawing for like 3 weeks... i bought an art book and i pump out at least 3-4 sketches a day... what do you guys think for 20 minutes?

( p.s. the scanner i used is a peice of fecal matter.... or maybe its the settings... anyone have any scanner tips or a link to a good post where this was already discussed?)

anyway... tell me what looks dumb about it.... or what i need to work on

thanks guys... ill take any advice you can shell outhttp://www.mediaworksinc.com/fserv/scan.jpg

hi........scanner tips? it all depends what you want to do.
someone on the net once told me a great way to scan lineart in...
im gonna assume you're using photoshop....
scan your image in at 400dpi..
get rid of ay color - convert it to greyscale
goto the image mode bit - choose Duotone.
click on the graph option and tweak the graph so that your outlines come out nice and dark....

i hope that helps you a bit....
whats wrong with the pic? erm..... i know its a sketchy thing, but maybe you could add to it using line thickness variance and some scribbly tone?
I don't think im even qualified to give you drawing advice! I've only just joined and haven't even posted any work!!!
Good luck!

yeah the drawings lines are alot more defined in the actual art ... that is what i was saying about the scan, it lightened everthing up and now it looks wierd.

ill re-scan it right now using your tips and ill post it if it looks any better

and martial.... lol dont worry ... your just doing exactly what i have been the last 3 weeks...... even noobs have opinions

:)

post man.... it feels good!

Hey, looks nice for a sketch ! I like the pose of the man and the coat he's got, a little Matrix touch, huh ?
Now you just should work on the feet I think...
And take these crit as NOOB's ones... I'm only 15 years old, and I'm amazed in front of the tons of beautyful drawings here !!!
I can't post any scanned drawing I've made these days, because my scan isn't ready yet... (an old one, with ISA card... what a stupid mess)
