Hi,

I didn't post here for a long time cause I'm working hard on my secret comic book project for more than a year. Luckily now I'm just 3-4 months far from finalization so my dream is coming true.
I was visiting this great place all the time but I didn't have an urge to post. Today, for some strange reason I decided to post something and here it is:
I did this one a few months ago just to practice some figure poses and skin tones.
For all those who are still struggling with basics (like me :)) try to find fantastic books of Great, Great, The Greatest - Andrew Loomis, learn hard and you style & technique will flourish, bit by bit.

Cheers

Good start. You have a lot of good stuff going on here. The biggest difficulty is that it doesn't all hang together. None of the elements feel like they're in the same paining, if you know what I mean. The figures don't blend into the background. And they both look washed out. The darks aren't dark enough, and the lights aren't light enough. Anatomy could use a little work as well. The woman's ribcage for instance. The man's head. It looks like he has too much skull under his hair. Still, I can see you put a lot of work into this, and it's coming along.

You might, however, at least acknowledge the swipe of Frazetta's Cat Girl.

Nathan, you got a great collector's eye, :)
You found reference image I had used from a first look.
Cat Girl is one of my favourite Frazetta's paintings, it simply glows with power and tranquility at the same time.
Thank you for you crits, I'm glad that you spare some time to comment this one.
I made some mistakes in figures, especially in hands and feet but this was only a practice so I had left it behind with corrections in my head.
I'm learning from Loomis's "Eye of the painter" book and I know that I have to train my eye to paint correctly same tones of different color in a same light but it's hard because my goals are a bit to high.
I put this pic here to collect some constructive notions & opinions and then go on.

My comic book is a bit different in theme than this, but it is fully painted with many characters in action and great landscapes around.
I'm doing it, step by step, from sketching to painting slowly just to preserve color harmony through all 47 pages. When I 100% finish some "epic" scenes I will probably post it here, but for now that's all.

Cheers

Yeah the Frazetta influence is very easy to spot... however I do think that the background and the colours are very well done. The tree feels old and rugged and the moss looks damp and lush.

The figures are fairly solid, but probably over rendered. The anatomy looks more like an anatomy/bodybuilding manual, and not natural and realistic, which would suit the picture style more.
