Indeed, very well spotted! ) We have two left handed guitars in the house and I felt rather insincere drawing a 'proper one'. That's how I play them, anyway. Up side down. It's a self-portarit, if you like.


On fashion, I do like fashion (girls generally do, I think!) But a boring barrister in a grey wig is what I shall be!

.A quick self-portrait and a small rough sketch of a horse (first time in my life!) Looking at rubbish like that one'd never guess I am classically trained. Ha. I shall try to post some proper stuff, but I shall draw it first as fresh is always best, in a way.

Art can be many things, such as music, but I am referring to drawing and painting. The latter especially! I am non-imaginative, mechanical and unexpressive. (Is that even a word?) I draw because it takes time and I can think only of one thing - the next detail or even the next dot. 'Arty' I cannot be referred to as. All that said, I do enjoy it immensly. Thank you.


Below, I had attempted to paint a horse, something I have never drawn in my life save for this sketch. It's great to draw new things. Also below is a Crow Indian (Native American? Pff); he also had not been finished yet (along with his hoofed friend).

Couldn't agree more :) I think that any visual piece of art a person makes has at least some of their personality in it. So don't down talk yourself if at all possible ;) Love the gesture in your work (especially the self portrait in post #9) and your line work is pretty top notch. Not much to really crit; you seem to have a very strong handle on what you're doing. Keep up the great work!

since i opened this can of worms i suppose i should reply.

onir was right–on in saying that your work (particularly your self–portrait) carries your personality with it. people enjoy your line–work because they can see "you" in it. ultimately art is about communication. if you can communicate your own ideas visually, then i would qualify you as an artist. every person's brain interprets the world differently. what the world wants to know is how you "see" the world. i know what you are referring to in not being able to see past "the next detail." it is, in fact, something many artists never get past. communicating ideas and not just the images that fall out of my head is something i forget to even consider at times and is a conflict that i struggle with every day.

i understand the point you were making, but i don't believe you lack the ability to communicate original ideas; you simply chose not to.

.I do not know whay drawing them is so incredibly satisfying compared to, for example, drawing a rose or something, but there. Some of my skulls in various stages of finishedness. And the update on my silly horse. I have to do something about that leg.

Biology is a wonderful thing! Indeed they are not meant to be quite that different from a 'normal' skull, however the one on the left is neonate and the one on the right.. well. Let's say it does look as if I've cut the top of someone's head off there :-) I'll have to check it, methinks.

In response to your comment.....honestly......just practice!!However, look at how other artists work and try to emulate their style at least a little just to get an understanding of how they work out composition and add value to there paintings etc and before long you'll develop your own style. I try to do the least possible in terms of line work before i start painting. I'm still learning a great fucking deal but every time something looks right or i work something out thier is an almighty sense of gratification and satisfaction :P

Hope this helps and keep up the great work. Now my wacom is crying out for attention and its about time i started painting on a regular basis.

Really strong pieces you've got here! Whatever you think of your art, you've got a wonderful style, and that's the essence of art! Its simply recreating the things you see(in your mind, or in the world around you), and doing it in a way very much your own.

Youve done that completely, so I think you are definitely 'Artsy'. Cant wait for more.

what medium did you use for the picture of the four girls, or is it digital? whatever it is its beautifully drawn. I prefer your digital stuff to the pencils which is unusual for me it all looks like its been so well crafted

.Hello. Yes, those little things are all digital. They start their life as sketches, but I then neat them up :-) I am a messy sketcher..
