This is the first time ive posted here, and its nerve racking :P Ive been idling this site for over a month, cos it took ages to register, checking every day :S

Anyway, i thought it wuld b a good idea as a budding scottish illustration student to start a daily sketchbook. O yeh, and this site just blows my mind for inspirtation, every thread has something unique and inspirational. Anywhos, i thought i wuld post some sketches i did over the summer.

Nice progression on the current piece. The clouds really add a sense of location in the picture and really help make it worth looking at.. interesting coloring either way.. the sharp dark lines at the btm of her legs are the only thing that twitches my out .. it draws the eye right there as u scan the subject. Keep chugging. liking the 4 cartoonish things too before. Nice linework with alot of the stuff in the beginning of your work. Keep shooting - chudds

Cheers chudzta, today ive cleaned up the foreground grass, made the firefly glow a bit larger(too large?), and generally started the clean up :P Not sure if i wanna put more detail in the grass, i kinda like the silhouette thing goin on :D

wow, I cheated and looked at the end of the thread and saw a piece where I saw someone had cut out a pic of a woman, changed the levels a bit, colored it some and pasted it into a rather weird background.. It blew me away to see the progress. I was amased you could do that with/to a drawing..

Ah well, i was sooo close to completing the illustration... and Photoshop7 decided to corrupt the file after the PC Froze.
And so im left with a duff file, with an error saying -

"Could not open bla blah because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered."

Any help wuld be sooooooooooooooooooo appreciated, cos if i cant sort it, im err buggerd for college lol :(

Queer..HELL NO! :P But colour blindness does help lol. I just try n get the tones rite, the actual colour comes 2nd for me :P

For today, heres a wierd concept skeleton thing i drew over the summer using a 0.01 staedtler pigment liner, which ive not got round to colouring. There is nothing anatomically correct with it, but i like the pic nevertheless. :P

I like your skeleton.. Things dont always have to be anatomically correct. I like the look of it. The pic with the angel is really super good.

thanks cocofuppa! I need to sculpt more but its def/ not something you should stop doing. If you want to learn anatomy be methodical. I sat down with a good anatomy book, drew the diagrams and jumped back and forth between non ref and ref figures. Try to challenge yourself, and when you run into a problem area attack it head on (by looking at muscle structures, movement of skeleton, etc...). Every time you do that you add another nugget to your arsenel (thats an odd analogy). Sculpting will really help you to think in 3d, which still makes my head hurt. I like your gestrues from ghost dog and the hand studies.

Not posted for a while, gettin portfolio ready(it costs £22 for an A2 print OMG :P). Anyway, heres a pic i took of a self portrait i did a while back. This is like the half way stage of completion showin a "devilish" side to me :P All done in acrylics on stretched out A2 cartridge paper.

Lol valcon :P Well apart from the missing eye etc it was kinda done. Its part of a pair of SP, the other one i dont have any pics of atm, but i will post as soon as i get it bk from college, and its blue instead of red :P I just use thick rite from the tube acrylic, i hate washes :D
